    Abstract: An auction method for implementing automatic bid status refresh and item attribute updates in an electronic exchange. The method includes the step of receiving update configuration information from remote bidders via a distributed computer network. The update configuration information includes a time interval for receiving bid status updates. An auction is conducted wherein bid information received from the remote bidders is compared to determine a bid status and wherein the bid status is used to determine the bid status updates for the remote bidders. The bid status includes information regarding the most competitive, or winning, bid and any associated terms. The bid status updates are disseminated to the remote bidders via the distributed computer network in accordance with the update configuration information. At the conclusion of the auction, an auction winner is designated in accordance with the latest most competitive bid of the bid status.

    Abstract: An improved process for making a mild, detergent-soap, toilet bar containing a C6-C18 acyl isethionate as the principal surfactant in combination with minor proportions of C12-C20 fatty acids, a water soluble soap and water which comprises the step of forming a liquid mixture of said acyl isethionate, fatty acids and soap at a temperature of about 85.degree. C. to 105.degree. C. in the presence of about 0.5% to 2.5% by weight, based upon the bar, of vegetable oil prior to processing said liquid mixture on a chill roll to form particles which are further processed to yield said bar, said liquid mixture having reduced viscosity and being readily pumpable as compared to a liquid mixture prepared in the absence of said vegetable oil. The bar produced by the foregoing process also is part of the invention.

    Abstract: Contact lenses are disinfected by utilizing an N-alkyl-2-pyrrolidone as the microbicide. The efficacy of prior art microbicides such as chlorhexidene gluconate are enhanced by the addition of the pyrrolidones of this invention. The pyrrolidones suitable for use in the practice of this invention are the C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 N-alkyl-2-pyrrolidones. Preferably the alkyl moiety is octyl, decyl or dodecyl. The pyrrolidones can be utilized in solution or made available as a water soluble tablet.
