  • Patent number: 6686687
Abstract: A color display tube with an elongated phosphor screen having a pattern of discrete phosphor elements. In order to reduce landing errors of the electron beams, in particular in the X direction, and simultaneously minimize the amount of magnetic material used for the internal magnetic shield, the color display tube has an internal magnetic shield consisting of a tub that is deep-drawn from a foil, which tube has a bottom with an aperture for allowing passage of electrons. Material of the bottom adjoining the aperture for allowing passage of electrons has been bent outwards from the plane of the bottom. In this manner, material of the bottom of the tub which would otherwise have been cut away is used to enlarge the “virtual” height of the magnetic shield.

  • Patent number: 6597103
Abstract: The invention relates to a display tube comprising an envelope portion 2 having an inner surface provided with a first electrically conductive layer 7 and a faceplate 1 having an inner surface provided with a second electrically conductive layer 8, which faceplate 1 is secured to the envelope portion 2 at a sealing edge 15, and further comprising a contacting layer 33 which is deposited in an area partially overlapping the first electrically conductive layer 7 and the second electrically conductive layer 8 in order to electrically connect said first electrically conductive layer 7 to said second electrically conductive layer 8.

  • Patent number: 6570318
Abstract: A color cathode ray tube and a getter assembly for use in such a cathode ray tube. The getter assembly comprises a conducting strip for contacting a high-voltage contact with a magnetic screening cone inside a cone portion of the tube. Due to the relatively large deflection angle of modern cathode ray tubes with flat display screens, the getter assembly has to be made smaller. The getter assembly of the invention has a notch for directly engaging the high voltage contact. In case of reworking during the manufacturing process, an operator can slide the new getter assembly with the aid of a special tool, from the neck side along the inner wall for engagement with the high-voltage contact.

  • Publication number: 20030008593
Abstract: Method for evaporating a getter material in a vacuum tube, comprising a step of providing a high frequency induction coil on the outside of the vacuum tube, near the location of the holder of the getter material, and passing an alternating current through the high-frequency induction coil for evaporating the getter material. The alternating current is generated by a high-frequency generator with a variable frequency. The induction coil and a capacitor are jointly incorporated in a resonant circuit. During execution of the evaporating step, the frequency of the high-frequency generator is attuned to the resonant frequency of the LC resonator. The dissipated power in the getter material in the holder is then determined from the power delivered by the high-frequency generator and the dissipated power in the LC resonator. The dissipated power can be controlled by adjusting the total power of the high-frequency generator.

  • Patent number: 6310435
Abstract: A cathode ray tube, which has a getter assembly (18) for providing proper vacuum conditions within the tube. The getter assembly (18) comprises a resilient strip (19) having a first end portion (23) and a second end portion (25), and is detachably secured to a high voltage contact (15). A getter cup (21) is connected to the first end portion (23). The second end portion (25) is cooperatively engaged with one, preferably two protrusions (30) for limiting lateral movements of the resilient strip (19). The protrusions (30) are provided inside the envelope (5) of the tube. This arrangement reduces the risk of obtaining a layer of getter material at the wrong location within the tube.
