Abstract: A CMOS light sensor and the operation method thereof are disclosed. The CMOS light sensor has a plurality of light sensing lines and a plurality of capacitor lines. Each light sensing line has a plurality of light sensors such that the number of capacitors in each capacitor line is smaller than the number of light sensing cells in each light sensing line. The capacitors are used for holding a portion of the potentials produced by the light sensing cells due to illumination. The method of operating the CMOS light sensor includes transferring the data captured by the light sensing line to the capacitor line and reading out the data according to a pre-defined order so that the leakage of charges from the capacitor is reduced.

Abstract: A password input and verification method is provided to prevent the disclosing of the password from peeping. The method is easy to learn, transparent to the users, and requires no hardware change and only minor software modification. The method allows a user to enter a much longer string of characters when he or she is asked for the password. The user is then authenticated if the actual password is embedded as a whole anywhere within the input string. The method also provides a mechanism called prohibition key. A prohibition key is a pre-determined character that, when present in the user input string, the user is not authenticated regardless of whether the actual password is contained in the input string or not.

Abstract: A method for efficiently setting up a wireless local area network comprising one or more access points and one or more wireless client devices is provided. Unlike traditional approaches for setting up a wireless local area network, which involves repetitive manual configuration of every AP and wireless client device, the proposed method basically stores the relevant configuration information in a removable storage media during the configuration of an AP. The removable storage media then can be used to configure the other APs and the wireless client devices with very limited human intervention. The configuration effort and the possibility of human error are therefore reduced to the minimum.

Abstract: A method for printing a confidential document in a network system having a printer connected to a printer server is provided. The method includes steps of setting a first password for a print job of said confidential document; sending data of the print job to the printer server and holding down the print job; inputting a second password into the printer server; and printing the document by the printer when the first password and the second password are identical.

Abstract: A method and a system for a plurality of computers to connect to the Internet by a single active phone line is provided. A server is auto-selected to provide Internet access to said plurality of computers through said single active phone, and when the server is not valid, another server will be selected from said plurality of computers to continuously provide the Internet accesses.
