Patent number: 8275205Abstract: A system having an approach for prioritizing targets for an order of capturing the targets photographically or otherwise. Prioritizing is based on cost of obtaining or capturing the target for viewing or photographing in high resolution. One acquisition mechanism is for obtaining a wide field of view of a scene of targets and another acquisition mechanism is for obtaining a narrow field of view of a target for capture. The cost for prioritizing is based on the time that the narrow field of view acquisition mechanism takes to pan and tilt to get a close-up image of a target divided by the width of the target. The targets may be faces of people.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2009Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Michael Ray Elgersma, Saad J. Bedros, Michael Janssen, Ben Miller

Publication number: 20110285845Abstract: A method and system for automatic face recognition. A primary and a plurality of secondary video cameras can be provided to monitor a detection area. The primary video camera can detect people present in the detection zone. Data can be then transmitted to a prioritizor module that produces a prioritized list of detected people. The plurality of secondary video cameras then captures a high-resolution image of the faces of the people present in the detection area according to the prioritized list provided by the prioritizor module. The high-resolution images can be then provided to a face recognition module, which is used to identify the people present in the detection area.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 21, 2010Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Saad J. Bedros, Ben Miller, Michael Janssen

Publication number: 20110202527Abstract: A process includes receiving an archive of video data comprising a plurality of archive descriptor types, and applying a query to the archive. The query includes a number of N query descriptor types for a query object. The process further includes determining a difference between each query descriptor type and corresponding descriptor types of the archive, and storing each difference as a point in an N dimensional space. The process further includes identifying an archive object that is similar to the query object as a function of proximities of the differences to an origin of the N dimensional space.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2010Publication date: August 18, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Scott McCloskey, Ben A. Miller

Publication number: 20110161340Abstract: A system for providing long term query refinement. Low level information may be stored based on user feedback. There may be equivalence classes in an archive or memory which contain items from a query search which are labeled positive or negative by a user. Labels may be stored in class pairs over previously run queries. There may be propagation of labels to other items in the same or other classes. There may be a refinement which aids in changing the query to one that indicates more accurately what the user wants. A result set of items may be formulated from which a user may select a new query.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Scott McCloskey, Ben Miller

Publication number: 20110128385Abstract: A multi-camera arrangement for capturing a high resolution image of a target. A first camera may be for capturing a wide field of view low resolution image having a target. The target or a component of it may be border-boxed with a marking. The target may be a human being component, such as a face, having approximately the same size among virtually all humans. A distance of the target may be determined from a known size of a component of the target. The target may be other items of similar size. Coordinates of pixels of the image portion containing the target may be mapped to a pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) camera. The pan and tilt of the PTZ camera may be adjusted according to image information from the wide field of view camera. Then the PTZ camera may zoom in on the target to obtain a high resolution image of the target.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2009Publication date: June 2, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Saad J. Bedros, Ben Miller, Michael Janssen

Patent number: 7925112Abstract: Video data matching includes both a single region of data and sequences of regions of data. In an embodiment, a video processing system selects, from a first matrix row corresponding to a test appearance model, one or more other appearance models as a function of similarity measures populating the first matrix row. After selection of the one or more other appearance models, the system then selects, from other matrix rows corresponding to the one or more other appearance models selected in the first step, one or more additional appearance models as a function of the similarity measures populating the other matrix rows. The system then ranks the appearance models selected from the first matrix row and the other matrix rows.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2007Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Yunqian Ma, Isaac Cohen, Ben A. Method and system for indexing and searching objects of interest across a plurality of video streams
Patent number: 7898576Abstract: A seed search of a subset of analytical data corresponding to video objects displayable in a plurality of video frames is carried out to identify video objects that most closely match a selected video object and then complete searches of the analytical data may be carried out so as to identify video objects that most closely match each video object identified during the seed search. The video objects having the greatest number of occurrences of being identified during the complete searches may be displayed by a graphical user interface (GUI). In this way, the GUI may display the video objects in an order based on how closely each video object matches the selected video object and/or a video object identified during the seed search, which may an order different than an order based on a time when each video object was captured.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2007Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Ben A. Patent number: 7443916Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for reliable multicarrier communication in the presence of periodic impulsive interference is disclosed. A power level of noise in a signal is determined. An impulse noise in the signal is detected. A gain factor associated with the impulse noise is determined and applied to the noise power of the signal to calculate an equivalent noise power. In one aspect, the equivalent noise power is used to determine a signal-noise-ratio.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2003Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: 2Wire, Inc.Inventors: Hossein Sedarat, Ben Miller

Patent number: 4700685Abstract: A cooking oven for cooking foodstuffs with either steam or forced convection hot air. In the steam mode, steam is continuously generated in the oven cavity. Alternatively, in the convection mode, the amount of moisture supplied to the cavity is controlled. A fan circulates the air or steam in the oven cavity. The steam is generated by means of a slinger cup to which water is supplied and from which water will flow in a thin film over an edge portion of the cup to be slung outwardly and to be atomized thereby by centrifugal force. The atomized water is then caused to flow, by means of the fan, over a heater to be heated thereby whereby the atomized water flashes into water vapor or steam. The oven is operated at atmospheric pressure. Food juices and condensed steam or water vapor which collect in the bottom of the oven will be drained therefrom by means of a drain which is open to the atmosphere. The oven temperature is selectively variable by means of an automatic control.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1986Date of Patent: October 20, 1987Assignee: Lincoln Foodservice Products, Inc.Inventor: Ben Miller
