    Abstract: A system for achieving evacuation of tissue from within the uterine cavity. A rotating Archimedes screw within a narrow cylindrical sheath achieves mechanical tissue extraction. A vacuum source attached to the sheath removes the extracted tissue from the sheath by suction. A fiber-optic system integrated into the sheath allows the procedure to be performed under direct visual guidance. The narrow diameter of the sheath allows for performance of the procedure without the need for cervical dilation.
