  • Publication number: 20090013165
Abstract: Techniques for booting a host computer from a portable storage device with customized settings have been described herein. According to one embodiment, in response to detecting a portable storage device inserted into a first host computer having a first operating environment provided by a first operating system (OS) installed in the first host computer, rebooting the first host computer into a second operating environment using a second OS image stored in the portable device. In addition, a personal configuration file stored in the portable device is extracted to configure the second operating environment of the first host computer, such that the user of the portable storage device can operate the second host computer in view of the personal working environment. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

  • Patent number: 7378301
Abstract: A method for molding digital storage memory cards such as, for example, multimedia cards (MMC), secure digital cards (SD), and similar small form factor digital memory cards. A PCA subassembly including, for example, a leadframe (TSOP) package for enclosing a flash IC and a (e.g., land grad array) controller package for enclosing a controller IC are mounted on a printed wiring board within a mold cavity. A high melt flow index resin is injected into the mold cavity to form an integral, solid body within which to completely encapsulate the flash IC and controller packages and form a cover over top the flash IC package so as to maintain the required memory card height tolerance. In one embodiment, the resin material is injected downwardly into the mold cavity from locations above the respective rows of leads of the flash IC package.

  • Patent number: 6728763
Abstract: A method and system for providing media content in real-time on a web client is disclosed. The web client includes a browser utilizing a cache. The media content can be separated into a plurality of sections. The browser of the web client can read and display a section of the media content without additional software or plug-ins. In one aspect, the method and system include ensuring that the web client can flush the cache to allow the media content to be played in real-time, preferably in response to the web client requesting the media content. In this aspect, the method and system also include providing the plurality of sections of the media content to the web client section by section and allowing the web client to flush the section of the media content from the cache once each of the plurality of section has been displayed.

  • Patent number: 6041346
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for providing access to a remote network. In a preferred embodiment, a system and method in accordance with the present invention allows a local host on the private network to transparently access the remote network and permit multiple users in the local network to simultaneously access the remote network. This access is based upon the requirements of an application utilizing a mass storage device within the private network. This system allows for user security on the private network. In one aspect, the method and system allow a private network to access a remote network. The private network has a plurality of components. At least one the plurality of components has a mass storage device. In this aspect, the method and system comprise providing an internet appliance and providing a portion of the mass storage device of the at least one of the plurality of components. The portion of the mass storage device is shareable with and mapped to the internet appliance.

  • Patent number: 5014128
Abstract: A video interface circuit for displaying the output of a video camera on a video monitor of the type used for displaying computer output data. In a first mode of operation, data from a video camera is stored in a first video memory while data previously stored in a second video memory is displayed on a video monitor. In a second mode of operation, there is provided the further steps of displaying information previously stored in the first and second video memories alternately on the video monitor. In a third mode of operation, data previously stored in the first and second video memories is read out one word at a time. If a predetermined bit in the word read from the second video memory has a first predetermined logical level, the word read from the first video memory is displayed on the video monitor. Alternately, if the predetermined bit in the word read from the second video memory has a second predetermined level, the word read from the second video memory is displayed on the video monitor.
