  • Publication number: 20170189037
Abstract: Drill bit guide assemblies related to surgical operations for guiding and stabilizing a drill bit. A guide member houses a fixed bore through which a drill bit may pass. The guide member may also house a bore selection member which houses a plurality of selectable bores. The selectable bores may have a variety of diameters such that a user may choose the selectable bore corresponding to the drill bit diameter being used and align that selectable bore with the fixed bore such that the drill bit may pass through the length of the assembly along the reference axis. The similar diameters of the selectable bore and the drill bit may cause the assembly to stabilize and guide the drill bit.

  • Publication number: 20170143440
Abstract: Methods and instruments for placement of orthopedic implants in bones of a patient. The placement may include selective placement of the implant relative to structure of the bone using a measurement system that may detect interfaces between layers of the bone. The orthopedic implants may be engaged by various embodiments of chucks. The chucks may include structure for engaging indexing features of a corresponding orthopedic implant to restrict movement of the implant relative to the chuck along a working axis. The chucks may allow for use of an instrument having a measurement system for accurate and repeatable placement of the implants using the instrument.

  • Patent number: 8917992
Abstract: An optical network remote node includes first and second node inputs, each receiving a multiplexed optical signal, and node outputs, each outputting a separate demultiplexed optical signal. The node includes first and second optical power splitters, each having a splitter input connected to one of the node inputs and splitter outputs connected to corresponding node outputs. The node includes an arrayed waveguide grating having first and second grating inputs connected to the first and second node inputs, respectively, and grating outputs connected to the corresponding node outputs. If the received signal at one of the node inputs is time division multiplexed, the corresponding connected optical power splitter broadcasts the received optical signal at the node outputs. If the received signal at one of the node inputs is wavelength division multiplexed, the arrayed waveguide grating demultiplexes the received optical signals in wavelength and outputs the demultiplexed signals at the node outputs.

  • Patent number: 7845884
Abstract: A resin insertion device includes a barrel, a piston within the barrel, and a triggering mechanism. The triggering mechanism includes an air outlet, an air inlet, a venturi tube and at least one trigger piston. A resin insertion device includes a barrel having a collar disposed at a first end and a piston disposed slidably within the barrel. A triggering mechanism is disposed at a second end. A first position of the trigger prevents airflow through an air inlet, a second position allows air through the inlet and an outlet, and a third position prevents airflow through the outlet. A method of inserting resin into a bore hole includes providing an insertion device including a barrel, and a triggering mechanism. The method includes depressing a trigger from a first to a second position, placing at least one resin cartridge within the barrel, and further depressing the trigger.

  • Patent number: 4394538
Abstract: An apparatus for receiving spoken input training words and for subsequently recognizing a spoken input command word. For each training word, and for the command word, there is stored a time dependent array and a cumulative feature non-time-dependent vector. The command word array is compared, member-by-member, with each training word array. Also, the command word vector is compared, feature-by-feature, with each training word vector. The results of both comparisons are used for selecting the training word which most closely matches the command word.
