  • Publication number: 20190363568
Abstract: A solar wireless collector beacon (data hub) and associated method stores source data, received wirelessly from a data source, in a data buffer of the data hub. Sensor data is read from one or more onboard sensors of the data hub and stored as structural and/or environmental data in the data buffer. The environmental data is processed to determine an operating status of a vehicle being used with the data hub and an energy harvester of the vehicle is controlled to harvest energy from the vehicle based on the operating status. One or more of the operating status, the source data, and the environmental data is wirelessly transmitted from the data hub to an external device.

  • Publication number: 20170124289
Abstract: A method for coordinating medical treatments and in-care patient tracking system is set forth wherein a patient peripheral enables determination of patient location data, patient identification data, and treatment data, by sensed spatiotemporal relationships of the patient peripheral within a designated area. Proximity of the patient peripheral with a practitioner peripheral enables automated association of treatment data to a patient record alongside practitioner identification data. Treatment data generated, such as collected samples and other data, effects automatic assignment of the patient identity to relevant data and materials. Inventory is trackable, and doses administered are reportable automatically to the patient record.

  • Patent number: 8418569
Abstract: A variable torque-rate test point for the performance testing of rotary tools for threaded fasteners comprises a screw-threaded bolt (1) having a moment of inertia comparable to that of a bolt to be tightened using the rotary tool. The bolt (1) is tightened in the test joint against a torque-rate adjustment device (6) which can be adjusted to simulate a hard or a soft joint. The adjustment device (6) comprises a washer portion (7) beneath the bolt head (4), at least one spring beam (8) extending from a reaction point (9) radially outwardly of the bolt (1), and a pivotal bearing member (10) or other pivot at a mid portion of the beam (8). The beam (8) flexes as it extends in cantilever over the pivot point, and that flexure can be adjusted to vary the torque-rate of the test joint by varying the distance between the pivot point and the rotary axis of the bolt (1).

  • Patent number: 8023899
Abstract: An approach for selecting communications channels to be used by a communication system includes evaluating for the presence of one or more signals both a particular communications channel currently being used by the communication system and one or more other communications channels. For the particular communications channel currently being used by the communication system, signals that use a different communications protocol than the communication system are evaluated. For the one or more other communications channels, both signals that use the same communications protocol as the communication system and signals that use a different communications protocol than the communication system are evaluated. The approach may include the use of metrics and classification of device types to determine one or more communications channels to be used by the communication system.

  • Patent number: 7828518
Abstract: A securing arrangement 32 for securing an actuating lever 20 to a spindle 14, for example a spindle 14 of a variable inlet guide vane 10 in a gas turbine engine, comprises a fastening formation 38 rotatably co-operable, in use, with a corresponding fastening formation 30 on the spindle 14. The securing arrangement 32 is rotatable relative to the spindle 14 to a securing position in which the respective fastening formations 30, 38 co-operate so that the securing arrangement 32 secures the actuating lever 20 to the spindle 14. The securing arrangement 32 includes anti-rotation means 42, preferably in the form of anti-rotation tabs 44, for preventing rotation of the securing arrangement 32 from the securing position.
