Abstract: A method for hiding defective memory cells in a semiconductor memory having a plurality of memory cells coupled with word lines for controlling is suggested. In the method, at least one word line is determined, where one control signal selects the at least one defective memory cell. For hiding the at least one defective memory cell, a signal inverted with regard to the selection signal is applied to the at least one determined word line during addressing of the plurality of memory cells.
