  • Patent number: 11946805
Abstract: A spectrometer apparatus is disclosed that includes at least one light source for irradiating a sample with light, an optical detection device for detecting light scattered by the sample, at least one optical filter device, which is arranged in front of and/or behind the sample, a contact sensor device for determining a contact between the sample and the spectrometer apparatus and for outputting a corresponding output signal, a control device for controlling the light source and the detection device in response to the output signal. The control device is designed such that the control device modifies at least one operating parameter of the light source and the detection device, when the output signal indicates the contact between the sample and the spectrometer apparatus. A method for operating a spectrometer apparatus is disclosed as well.

  • Publication number: 20120245387
Abstract: The present invention provides new lithium salts comprising pentafluorophenylamide anions following the general formula Li+[N(SO2—R)(C6F5)]?, which are optionally present as solvent-free complexes. R is hereby selected from fluorine, linear or branched acyclic or cyclic alkyl groups with 1 to 20 carbon atoms which are not fluorinated, partially fluorinated or fully fluorinated; or not fluorinated, partially fluorinated or fully fluorinated aryl or benzyl groups with 1 to 20 carbon atoms. The lithium salts according to the present invention are produced by reacting the corresponding NH acid of the pentafluorophenylamide with one equivalent of lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide or lithium organyl, wherein the reaction is carried out advantageously in the presence of apolar aprotic solvents. In this way, lithium salts in the form of solvent-free complexes are obtained. These solvent-free lithium complexes are thermally, electrochemically and against oxidation stable and comprise a high ionic conductivity.

  • Publication number: 20060052958
Abstract: A power management intergrated circuit for monitoring a parameter of a power system is disclosed. The integrated circuit comprises an analog front end operative to receive and at least one of amplify, attenuate and filter analog signals representative of at least one of voltage and current in a power system to produce modified analog signals. The integrated circuit further comprises an analog to digital converter coupled with the analog front end. The analog to digital converter is operative to produce digital signals representative of the modified analog signals. The integrated circuit further comprises logic coupled with the analog to digital converter, operative to receive the digital signals and produce a power parameter. The logic comprises a processor core. The integrated circuit further comprises a random access memory coupled with the logic and operative to store the power parameter. The logic is operative to implement a setpoint to detect when the power parameter is outside a determined range.

  • Publication number: 20050275397
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring power in a conductor. A flex circuit may include multiple layers including a voltage sensing layer, a coil layer, and a ground layer. The coil layer includes traces that form a coil structure around a conductor when the flex circuit is wrapped around the conductor. The coil layer generates a voltage that may be integrated to determine a current in the conductor. When the flex circuit is wrapped around the conductor, the voltage sensing layer is closest to the conductor. The voltage sensing layer forms a capacitor with the conductor. Using an adjustable capacitive voltage divider, the voltage of the conductor may be determined from a voltage signal received from the voltage sensing layer.

  • Publication number: 20050144437
Abstract: A power management architecture for an electrical power distribution system, or portion thereof, is disclosed. The architecture includes multiple intelligent electronic devices (“IED's”) distributed throughout the power distribution system to manage the flow and consumption of power from the system. The IED's are linked via a network to back-end servers. Security mechanisms are further provided which protect and otherwise ensure the authenticity of communications transmitted via the network in furtherance of the management of the distribution and consumption of electrical power by the architecture. In particular, public key cryptography is employed to identify components of the architecture and provide for secure communication of power management data among those components. Further, certificates and certificate authorities are utilized to further ensure integrity of the security mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20050071106
Abstract: An intelligent electronic device (IED) includes a base module having a power monitoring circuit operative to monitor a parameter of a portion of a power distribution system and generate an analog signal representative thereof. The base module also includes a processor coupled with the power monitoring circuit, the processor having an analog to digital converter operative to convert the analog signal to a digital signal representative thereof. The processor operates to implement a first power management functionality and generate first power management data. At least one of a display and a communications interface couple with the processor and communicate the first power management data external to the IED. A first interface couples with the processor and the communications interface. The first interface operates to receive a first external function module.
