  • Patent number: 5584324
Abstract: A clean, automated product draining method for a packaging machine is set forth. The method includes the following steps: draining product from a product tank through a filling tube; and controlling a rate at which the product is drained from the product tank with a dispensing mechanism, wherein the product is drained at a slower rate than a rate at which the product is dispensed into a container during a production cycle.

  • Patent number: 5533550
Abstract: An apparatus for internally venting a product tank in a packaging machine is set forth. The apparatus includes a filling tube having a first end extending from a first opening of the product tank. The apparatus further includes an air collection mechanism having a filling tube opening adapted to receive a second end of the filling tube. The air collection mechanism extends below the second end of the filling tube. A vent pipe is connected to a second opening of the product tank and to a vent pipe opening in the air collection mechanism. The filling tube and the vent pipe are separately connected to both the product tank and the air collection mechanism. Air pressure, arising from operating the packaging machine, directs air from the air collection mechanism through the vent pipe and into the product tank. Such air proceeds through the vent pipe and replaces product in the product tank as the product is dispersed into the carton during filling.

  • Patent number: 4762157
Abstract: To produce wooden laths, boards of optional width are resawn in unplaned condition, whereupon the laths are fed each into one compartment which is defined by splitting knives and within which the laths are subjected to a pressure which is directed against the feed table carrying the laths and under the action of which first the lower side and then the upper side are planed. The machine for resawing the boards and planing the laths has a feed table with a guide edge and sawing means comprising coaxially mounted saw blades adjacent the infeed end of the machine, splitting knives mounted directly after the sawing means and defining compartments each adapted to accommodate a lath, and pressure means above each compartment for applying to the laths a pressure directed against the feed table. Planing means are arranged for working, under the action of said pressure, first the lower side and then the upper side of each lath.

  • Patent number: 4677733
Abstract: A device for a woodworking machine (13) adapted at a number of consecutive working stations (14) for processing workpieces which are fed through the machine. The required working of the workpieces can be effected with at least one working station out of operation. The working stations are separated from each other by partitions (20) which extend between external walls (11), a roof (12) and a base and which are closely associated with the machine on either side of the working stations (14) and, like the external walls and the roof, are sound-proof. The tool or tools at each working station can be driven independently of the tools at the other working stations, and each compartment (22) defined by the partitions has a door (21) in the external wall (11). The path of travel of the workpieces through the machine is laterally limited by vertical walls and at the working stations the walls can be provided with covers for forming tunnel portions at these locations.

  • Patent number: 4576212
Abstract: A device in a machine tool for maintaining a workpiece which is being worked during displacement in the longitudinal direction, in engagement with the tool. The device consists of a first pair of rigidly interconnected arms which, at one end, are pivotally connected to first ends of a second pair of rigidly interconnected arms and, at the other end, are pivotally mounted on the machine frame. The other ends of the arms of the second pair are pivotally mounted on a pressure plate, all pivot shafts of the arms extending parallel to the direction of movement of the workpiece. Above the arm arrangement, a shaft extending in parallel with the working plane of the machine and perpendicularly to the direction of movement of the workpiece is vertically adjustably fixed on the machine frame. A piston and cylinder assembly is adjustably mounted on said shaft.

  • Patent number: 4471504
Abstract: A toothbrush has a cylindrical bristle-carrying head (4; 26) which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and at the same time reciprocatory along its longitudinal axis by the rotation of a rotor (6; 10) arranged on the handle of the toothbrush. In one embodiment, the toothbrush has means (29, 29a, 30, 30a) which, for ensuring the desired direction of rotation of the brush head, are adapted to block against rotation in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4451585
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a fibre composite material, which comprises glass- and/or mineral fibres, expanded microspheres and a curable resin. In the method a melt of glass or mineral is prepared and the melt is converted to discrete fibres by means of nozzles. A water-based solution or dispersion of a thermosetting resin is applied to the fibres, which solution or dispersion contains microspheres. The obtained material is collected and the microspheres are brought to expand before or after the collecting. The invention also relates to a final treatment of the obtained material in which the material is pressed or formed and brought to set to the C-stage. The invention also relates to the products obtained by the method.

  • Patent number: 4447013
Abstract: On extracting, reeling up, pulling in etc., of a heavy cable a main frame that can be set up or that may already be present on a vehicle may be used. The main frame comprises a base unit made up of a number of beams, and two bearing brackets projecting upwards from its long sides. A drum for the cable is supported free to rotate on the bearing brackets. The drum is provided with drive gear which comprises a motor unit and a transmission component. A pulling device is connected to a core of the cable and to a pull-free mechanism secured to the main frame. By means of the pull-free mechanism the cable can be given a small longitudinal displacement which enables the cable to be pulled free of its duct. After pulling free the pulling device is disconnected and the cable is pulled up towards and anchored on the drum, after which the motor unit is operated to turn the drum. The major part of the longitudinal displacement of the cable is then achieved by reeling the cable directly up on to the drum.

  • Patent number: 4303113
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a tool consisting of a tool body and cutter bits which are each secured in a slot in the body. By means of a tension screw which engages with the end portion of the bit located most proximal the bottom of the slot, the bit is fixedly retained in the slot under the application of a torque, the bit engaging with the slot walls at, in particular, three points; namely a point on the chipping face of the bit above a clearance disposed between this face and the slot face adjacent the bottom of the slot, a point on the rear face of the bit adjacent the periphery of the tool body, and, finally, the bottom of the slot. The tension screw engages with a surface on the bit which is located beneath a plane at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the bit through the abutment point on the chipping face of the bit, the surface preferably making an angle of approximately 45.degree. with this plane.
