Abstract: A chair (1), preferably of the type adapted for use by handicapped persons, comprising a seat (2), a back rest (3), a chair frame (4) supporting the seat (2) and the back rest (3) and arm rests (7) attached to the lateral or bottom portions (6) of the seat (2). The seat has a profile of normal thickness at the front but, at the rear, at the back rest (3), the seat has a depressed oval-shaped area (10) to match the anatomic shape of a seated human to permit the pelvis of the user to be received lower and more to the rear on the seat (2). Further, the underside of the back rest is curved upwardly. The sitting person is prevented from sliding forwards and the comfort of the seat (2) is increased.

Abstract: An seat cushion is adapted to selectively conform to a user's anatomy with a seat portion having at least one inflatable interior seat compartment with a resiliently compressible foam element disposed therein. The compartment also has an openable and closable seat valve for selectively communicating the seat compartment with the ambient atmosphere. The foam is expanded and compressed within the seat compartment in relation to selective application of a compression force acting on the seat portion when the seat valve is opened to selectively draw inflating air into and exhaust inflating air from the seat compartment.

Abstract: The invention relates to a spherical rolling bearing which comprises an outer ring with a spherical race track, an inner ring, a plurality of rolling elements between the rings, and seals on one or both sides of the rolling elements. The invention is characterized in that the seals are formed with a rim which can be snapped against the spherical race track and kept in an outer ring by means of this rim and a portion which clamps against the side plane of the outer ring. By this design there is no need for the outer ring to be provided with grooves for holding the seals.

Abstract: A method for the production of foam ceramics or shaped articles of foam ceramics from an aqueous starting mixture containing components which on heating to a temperature between 700.degree. and 1100.degree.C form a viscous, sintered and porous mass, which comprises incorporating a hydraulic binder or latent hydraulic binder into the aqueous starting mixture to effect solidification of the latter.
