  • Patent number: 4909539
Abstract: A passive safety belt arrangement for a motor vehicle which comprises a guide located at the center of the motor vehicle to guide a belt from a retractor reel over the shoulder of a person sitting on a seat of the motor vehicle, the belt passing to a carriage which is movable along a horizontal rail located between the seat and the side of the car. A motor drives the carriage along the rail. A locking station receives the carriage at a terminal position. When an accident occurs the carriage moves from a normal position within a locking station to bring part of the carriage into engagement with a detent provided in the locking station.

  • Patent number: 4768809
Abstract: A vehicle seat belt is provided with a device to pre-tension the seat belt should an accident situation arise. Thus, in an accident situation, the person wearing the seat belt is restrained tightly in his seat. The pre-tensioning device includes a force applying means adapted to apply a tension to the seat belt and an over-dead-center linkage which normally prevents the force applying means from applying the force, there being means responsive to a predetermined deceleration to alter the condition of the over-dead-center linkage to permit the force applying means to move the seat belt.

  • Patent number: 4756553
Abstract: In a passive vehicle safety belt in which one end of the belt is guided along a track by means of fastening means, slidable along the track and connected to one end of the safety belt, a retractor mechanism is provided which can be selectively locked in order to prevent safety belt being drawn into a retractor mechanism while the fastening means is in motion. Thus a loop of safety belt can be generated which does not strike the face of the person wearing the safety belt.

  • Patent number: 4705296
Abstract: A seat belt pre-tensioning device is adapted to be mounted on a vehicle and includes a buckle to receive a seat belt buckle. The device incorporates components which are responsive to a predetermined deceleration of the vehicle and which move to permit spring-loaded components to apply a force to move the buckle to apply a tension to the seat belt.

  • Patent number: 4697826
Abstract: A locking device for a band in a safety belt of a passive vehicle safety belt system comprises at least one fastening means (10) for the band (11) and a lock casing (15) into which the fastening means can be inserted and retained. The fastening means is adapted to be moved along a guide rail (13) by a traction means (16), controlled by an electric motor, and is adapted to be released from the traction means, when it engages with the lock casing, so that the traction means and the motor are not exposed to shock loads, when the fastening means engages with the lock casing. The traction means can continue its movement, when the power supply to the motor has been interrupted, so that the kinetic energy accumulated in the motor and the traction means can decay gradually. A slider (19) is attached to the traction means (16), and the fastening means (10) is releasably attached to the slider and is retained to the slider by means of pins (25.31) and a pawl (36).

  • Patent number: 4653774
Abstract: A seat belt system has an elongate rail mounted in the motor vehicle, and a seat belt termination assembly movable along the rail and connected to one end of the seat belt. The termination assembly is driven along the rail by an elongate drive element which is motor driven. The termination assembly is releasably connected to the drive element by a toggle latch connection. The termination assembly is released from the drive element when subjected to a predetermined retarding force.

  • Patent number: 4460072
Abstract: The invention relates to a braking mechanism for braking the chain of a portable power chain saw when a hazardous state occurs. The operating lever rotatably mounted on the chain saw casing is in operative connection with a control lever acting on a brake band by means of a lever-like device. Thus, in the braking position the control lever is transferred into an angular position with a simultaneous position change of the two brake band articulation points. As a result, the brake band is applied to the brake drum, which ensures that the braking mechanisms act without any delay.

  • Patent number: 4331457
Abstract: An air controlling device for use in a dryer for compressed air comprises dual containers of water absorbing, air permeable material arranged in parallel, each of the dual containers being alternately selected to dry compressed air and to be purged, two separate valve members, actuated by impulses of power, changing the connections between alternate containers.
