  • Patent number: 4746150
Abstract: When joining together pipe-lines, in particular, by means of explosive welding, an outer support tool is generally used, together with an inner peripheral body (3) which is applied by means of explosives (5), to the inner surfaces of the pipes (1 and 2) to be joined. The object of the invention is to replace the support tool by a tube formed from a strip (10), said tube functioning as support during the explosive welding process and which can be removed if desired, by unwinding.

  • Patent number: 4723705
Abstract: A ventilating device for a closed conduit system comprising a housing (7) with a liquid throughflow conduit (11) extending through end walls (8,9) of the housing. The throughflow conduit (11) has a liquid permeable part (13) which is directed towards an upper air vent (23) and the end edges of which are spaced from the end walls, and the side edges of which part (13) adjoining the end edges are preferably provided with wing-like elements (21,22) whose free edges form gaps with the inner wall of the housing. Liquid flows out beneath the conduit through those gaps (D,E) located between the end walls and the end edges of the wing-like element, and small air bubbles enclosed in the liquid form larger air bubbles which rise up between the wing-like element and the inner wall of the housing and depart through the vents (23).

  • Patent number: 4669649
Abstract: Sealing and cracking problems occur when joining coarse-caliber pipes (1 and 2) for oil or gas, for instance, by means of welding. The problem is solved by using an outer peripheral part (3) and an inner peripheral part (4) at the joint, and applying the latter part (4) by means of explosive welding. At the same time, the outer peripheral part (3) forms a firm joint, due to the action of the explosive welding.

  • Patent number: 4601071
Abstract: A flushing system for rapidly delivering a given volume of water supplied to an accumulating chamber (5) from an automatically or manually operated valve (6) has a float-controlled discharge valve (19) which is arranged to be opened when said given volume of water has been delivered to the accumulating chamber (5) and the float is located at a corresponding level in said chamber. A supply pipe (13) extends downwardly in the accumulating chamber (5) towards the outlet (3), and a valve housing (19) is slidably arranged, together with the float, on the water supply pipe. In a closing position of the valve housing, the lower edge part of the valve encircles the outlet. In an opening position of the valve housing, with water in the accumulating chamber, the valve housing is lifted from the seating. The lower end of the supply pipe is formed with a valve body (17) arranged, together with the valve housing, to form a pressure chamber (24) having a leakage opening.

  • Patent number: 4596686
Abstract: A method for adjusting the tolerances, regarding shape and dimensions, of an elongated vibrated concrete article made in a mould after removing the article from the mould. The invention makes it possible to achieve close tolerances inspite of using a rather wet concrete composition, which is optimized as regards strength but which causes adhering and suction in the mould and alteration of the articles shape before hardening. According to the invention, the method is characterized in that the article, before hardening, is brought into engagement with one long side a straight-edge rule for being shaped thereby, in that the article on the end surfaces is pressed to a predetermined length, and in that the cross sectional shape of the article is adjusted into agreement with the desired shape while keeping the article in engagement with the rule and pressing it on the end surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4594767
Abstract: A method of pre-mounting an anchorage device such as a spike into a concrete object said anchorage device being adapted for fastening the object onto a support surface. The method includes the steps of moulding and vibrating the object (1) in a mould, there being formed a guide recess (4) in the object and the object is being removed from the mould prior to curing the concrete.According to the invention there is formed, during the casting of the concrete object (1), a channel (5) extending from a location centrally of the bottom of the guide recess (4), practically through the object and to a location adjacent that surface of the object turned away from the guide recess. Then the object is removed from the mould and the concrete is cured. On forming the channel, this is given a tapering portion (8, 9) at the end thereof facing away from the guide recess and an approximately uniformly thick portion at the end thereof closest to the guide recess.

  • Patent number: 4555053
Abstract: When joining together pipes the pipe ends are usually placed opposite each other and then welded together. This cannot be done with heavy pipes. A gap exists between the ends (3 and 4) to be joined. The invention provides a joint by producing a splicing tube (5) the length of the gap and joining this by means of explosive welding. The invention is also applicable for mending a defect (2) in a pipe (1) by the removal of a sufficiently large section of the pipe (1) to allow the splicing tube (5) to fit into the space obtained, the part removed containing the defect (2).

  • Patent number: 4446627
Abstract: In an arrangement in angle rulers for improving the fixture of an angularly adjustable blade (10) of said rulers to the stock (11) thereof in selected angular positions relative thereto, the stock (11) comprises a rectangular hollow section having a lateral opening (17), the blade (10) being arranged to be partly surrounded by the hollow profile of the stock. A spring-loaded (20), displaceable peg (19) is arranged to extend through at least one (12) of the mutually opposing walls (12,13) of the stock, and through the blade (10). One surface of the blade exhibits grooves or promontories (27) arranged to co-act with corresponding grooves or promontories (26) in the inwardly facing surface of the wall (12), whereat both grooves (27) and promontories (26) concentrically encircle the peg (19), around which peg the blade (10) is arranged to pivot.

  • Patent number: 4436107
Abstract: In a ventilating valve adapted to be connected to a pipe in which, when the pressure in said pipe is below the ambient pressure, said pressure is equalized by causing ambient air to enter said pipe, said valve comprising an annular valve means, the pressure in a valve chamber communicating with the pipe acting on one side of said valve means while ambient pressure acts on the other side thereof through an inlet opening to the valve chamber, said inlet opening being defined by stays which extend between two seats co-operating with the valve means, there is arranged around the inner wall of the housing of said chamber a liquid collecting groove which is connected by means of one or more channels with the interior of a tubular connecting means for the pipe, and each such channel is arranged in a stay.

  • Patent number: 4383671
Abstract: A moulding tool for making curb stones from vibrated concrete having a rather high water content, the moulding tool being designed to offer good vibration properties and safe and simple removal of the curb stone from the moulding tool despite the fact that the concrete has a troublesome tendency of adhering to the moulding tool. According to the invention such a moulding tool is characterized in that the mould cavity is defined mainly by a main member of the moulding tool, said main member being a substantially rigid unit, and by two displacable end members, and that the moulded curb stone is removable from the main member in a direction parallel to the direction of displacement of the end members, the end members having means for exerting force on the curb stone when being displaced from the moulding position.

  • Patent number: 4365782
Abstract: Moulding tool for making an article from vibrated concrete optimized as regards strength, the article having embedded therein a tubular sleeve located by a pin during the moulding process. The moulding tool is designed to keep the interior of the sleeve free from concrete and to decrease wear and mechanical stress exerted on the pin during the moulding process. Such a moulding tool is characterized in that, during the moulding process, the pin extends through a sealing and dampening body made from an elastic or semi-hard material, the sealing and dampening body having sealing engagement with the pin. The sealing and dampening body is compressed by the sleeve so that a sealing engagement is achieved between one end of the sleeve and the sealing and dampening body and between the other end of the sleeve and a surface of the moulding tool.
