Abstract: Multicomponent fibers and films, which can be deformed at room temperature and exhibit thermally-actuated shape recovery properties and methods of their use are provided.

Abstract: Multicomponent fiber and fabrics made therefrom are provided, wherein the multicomponent fibers may incorporate one or more elastomers or additive-containing polymers in a bicomponent core. The fiber includes a multilobal sheath fiber component surrounding the bicomponent core, wherein the components are sized such that the fiber can be fibrillated to expose the core fiber components and split the fiber into multiple microdenier fibers.
