Abstract: Method and apparatus for remotely controlling an electronic control module (ECM) on a vehicle. By first establishing a connection to a wide area network, a control channel to a remote terminal is created on top of the newly created network connection. An ECM maintenance application is controlled from the remote terminal enabling a remote human user to run diagnostics and control a memory included in the ECM.
