  • Patent number: 7655058
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a pair of low efficiency cyclones connected upstream of respective groups of high efficiency cyclones by respective elongate ducts. The high efficiency cyclones of each group can be arranged in a line or a cluster extending away from their respective low efficiency cyclone, such that at least a portion of one side of the low efficiency cyclone is exposed. The high efficiency cyclones can be connected to their respective elongate ducts at respective positions along the length thereof, with each cyclone comprising an inlet connecting to the duct. The inlets of each high efficiency cyclone can be stepped along the axis of the duct with respect to the inlet of each other cyclone of the group, in a direction which extends across the width of the duct.

  • Publication number: 20090100810
Abstract: A cyclonic separation apparatus comprises a plurality of series-connected separation stages 50,51, each comprising a plurality of cyclone separators 16/23 connected in parallel and disposed in a generally annular arrangement about a main vertical axis of the apparatus, with their respective longitudinal cyclone axes extending parallel to the main axis. The successive separation stages 50,51 in the direction of fluid flow are disposed radially inwardly of each other with respect to the main axis of the apparatus and are also vertically staggered upwardly, so that the outlet 20 of one separation stage 50 leads directly into the inlet 22 of the next downstream stage 51. The multi-stage, series connected cyclone separators of the apparatus provide a high separation efficiency, yet the annular arrangement of the stages 50,51 makes the apparatus compact and enables the apparatus to be utilised in a vacuum cleaner.

  • Publication number: 20090100558
Abstract: Beauty Tape is a flexible BAND-AID type material cut and shape to protect the forehead, temples, neck and ears from accidental burns by hot utensils during the toilet process. The tape would not contain the medicated center found in BAND-AID type bandages. BEAUTY TAPE can be made from the same conforming materials currently marketed by the makers CURAD and BAND-AID. The strips of tapes can be contoured and made easy to apply to the desired area. The strips of tapes can be used one at a time or uniformly to form a preventative layer of tape on the head, neck and ears.

  • Patent number: 7441307
Abstract: A restricting device is positioned in the flow duct leading from the main inlet to the cleaning head of a vacuum cleaner and is movable between a restrictive position, in which it serves to restrict the cross-section of the discharge outlet, and an open position, in which it restricts the cross-section of the discharge outlet to a lesser extent. The restricting device is movable by the passage of debris along the flow duct.

  • Publication number: 20080015962
Abstract: A business method that manages the accumulation of data and calculates a price and obtains approval for delivery of a customized report, multiple reports, or subsets of reports drawn from a database and delivered to a user or surrogates identified by the user. More particularly, a user accesses a device with a GUI such as a web based server or a local network; defines, configures, and tags data fields to be captured and accumulated within a database; defines access and entry rights into the database; and defines a reports or set of reports which specify the fields from the database to be placed into a report or set of reports. The price or fee is calculated based upon the number of fields per report and the cumulative number of fields reported out in specified periods of time for multiple reports or subsets of reports in accordance with instructions of the user for distribution of the reports to the user and his surrogates.

  • Publication number: 20070106530
Abstract: The invention relates to oscillation suppression and, more particularly, concerns a method and apparatus for suppressing oscillation in a signal identified as or suspected of containing an oscillation due to feedback. The method involves converting the signal into frequency bands in the frequency domain, applying, for a selected period of time, a randomly changing phase to the signal in at least one of said frequency bands, and reconverting the converted signal into an output wave form signal. The selected period is divided into a series of successive time windows, and for each successive time window a newly generated random or pseudo-random phase is applied to the signal. The method can be used in combination with a method for detecting oscillation in said signal in each of the frequency bands, a randomly changing phase applied in each frequency band for which said oscillation has been detected. The invention has particular application in hearing aid devices.

  • Publication number: 20070063780
Abstract: The invention relates to oscillation detection and, more particularly, concerns a method and apparatus for identifying oscillation in a signal due to feedback, permitting appropriate action to be taken to suppress the oscillation. The method involves using an FFT device or similar to convert a signal at each of a series of successive time windows into the frequency domain, calculating, for each of a plurality of frequency bands, the change in signal phase from a time window to a subsequent time window, and comparing, for some or all of said frequency bands, the results of the calculation step to one or more defined criteria to provide a measure of whether oscillation due to feedback is present in the signal. For additional discrimination, the change in signal amplitude from a time window to a subsequent time window may also be calculated for each of the frequency bands, and the result compared with one or more further defined criteria. The invention has particular application in hearing aid devices.

  • Publication number: 20070022101
Abstract: Methods and apparatus consistent with the invention allow a user to submit an ambiguous search query and to receive relevant search results. In one embodiment, a sequence of numbers received from a user of a standard telephone keypad is translated into a set of potentially corresponding alphanumeric sequences. These potentially corresponding alphanumeric sequences are provided as an input to a conventional search engine, using a boolean “OR” expression, and the search results are presented to the user. The search engine effectively limits search results to those in which the user was likely interested.

  • Publication number: 20060076085
Abstract: The present invention relates to highly quenchable Fe-based rare earth magnetic materials that are made by rapid solidification process and exhibit good magnetic properties and thermal stability. More specifically, the invention relates to isotropic Nd—Fe—B type magnetic materials made from a rapid solidification process with a lower optimal wheel speed and a broader optimal wheel speed window than those used in producing conventional magnetic materials. The materials exhibit remanence (Br) and intrinsic coercivity (Hci) values of between 7.0 to 8.5 kG and 6.5 to 9.9 kOe, respectively, at room temperature. The invention also relates to process of making the materials and to bonded magnets made from the magnetic materials, which are suitable for direct replacement of anisotropic sintered ferrites in many applications.

  • Publication number: 20060067485
Abstract: An emergency system includes a gateway and a database in communication with the gateway. The database comprises first routing information for establishing a first communication link between a communication device and a controller, second routing information for establishing a second communication link between the gateway and the controller, wherein the second routing information is correlated to the first routing information; and location data associated with the communication device. Upon receiving identification information related to the communication device, the gateway retrieves the first routing information from the database and provides the first routing information to a switch. The gateway retrieves the second routing information from the database and uses the second routing information to establish a second communication link with the controller, and the gateway retrieves the location data from the database.
