  • Publication number: 20240094771
Abstract: A case for an electronic device such as a head-mounted device may have a main housing portion that separates an interior region from a surrounding exterior region. The main housing portion may have an opening through which the head-mounted device is received into the interior region. Flexible protruding portions of the main housing portion may form a flexible tab and a flexible flap. To make size adjustments to the interior region, the flexible tab may slide within an opening in a cover. The cover may be configured to move between an open position in which the opening is uncovered and a closed position in which the head-mounted device is enclosed within the interior region by the main housing portion and the cover. Deformable protrusions in the case may be used to seal openings in the head-mounted device when the device is in the interior region.

  • Publication number: 20230270215
Abstract: A stretchable watch band can include braided strands that provide a comfortable fit around the wrist of the user. The watch band can stretch and conform to the user based on the elasticity within each strand and based on the ability of the strands to move relative to each other. End sections of the watch band can include attachment elements that securely connect the watch band to a housing of the watch. The end sections can be configured to releasable connect to the housing in a manner that is reliable and easy for a user. Additionally, the watch band can provide a smooth transition from the size and/or shape of the housing to a size and/or shape of a continuous section of the watch band. Additionally, the watch band can conceal portions thereof other than the braided strands when connected to the housing of the watch.

  • Patent number: 11381892
Abstract: An enclosure may be provided with a housing. The housing may have an opening that separates and joins along a seam. A magnetic closure may have a pair of mating flexible magnetic members such as flexible rings or strips that run along the seam. Magnetic-field shunts may be provided in the flexible magnetic members. Multiple magnetic elements may be formed along the length of each magnetic member to form a multipole permanent magnet. Magnetic attraction may be varied along the lengths of the magnetic members and may be varied as a function of the separation between opposing magnet members. A magnetic clasp may be provided on the housing. The magnetic clasp may have attracting magnets to help close the opening in the housing. Protruding clasp portions may be formed from flexible material and may have embedded magnets configured to repel each other to facilitate use of the clasp.

  • Patent number: 10814589
Abstract: An item may be formed from layers of material such as leatherboard layers. A leatherboard layer may include fibrous natural material such as leather or paper embedded in polymer. Portions of the leatherboard layer can be locally modified by incorporation of filler material with desired properties. The filler material may include magnetic particles, conductive particles, or other material. By incorporating the filler material in localized portions of the leatherboard layer, integral electrodes or magnets may be formed. The leatherboard layer may also include embedded circuitry. Items such as enclosures and other items may be formed from the leatherboard layer. The leatherboard layer in an item may include locally modified regions such as magnet regions that are configured to form a closure or other structures that interact with each other.
