Publication number: 20260130509Abstract: A chair is equipped with a dual-mode tilt and collapsing mechanism, and/or a release mechanism for use when reconfiguring the chair between a ready-to-use configuration and a collapsible configuration, and/or a leg extension and retraction mechanism that is operable to extend and retract legs of the chair in response to moving a chair seat into and out of a collapsed position. Optionally the chair may be equipped with all three mechanisms, which provides for simplified conversion or reconfiguring of the chair between the ready-to-use configuration and the collapsed configuration that occupies substantially less floor space and less vertical space. Seating comfort of the chair is enhanced by the dual-mode tilt and collapsing mechanism in the ready-to-use configuration, which permits limited rearward tilting of the seat and seatback as a user shifts their weight on the seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2025Publication date: May 14, 2026Inventors: Brian Alexander, Michael A. Johnson, William G. Book, Benjamin B. Edinger

Patent number: 9339108Abstract: An article support, such as a shelf, is securely attachable at a plurality of locations along a generally vertical support or rail. The article support includes a support-engaging portion having one or more tabs, at least one of which is a locking tab having a forward-extending tooth that engages the vertical support, when the tab or tabs extend through slots in the support. Optionally, a biasing element urges the article away from the support to maintain secure engagement of the locking tab with the support. The resulting shelving system or article support system is resistant to accidental detachment of the article supports from the supports and permits relatively small adjustment intervals for the article supports along the supports.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2015Date of Patent: May 17, 2016Assignee: ALTRIA GROUP DISTRIBUTION COMPANYInventors: Dathan G. Zang, Donald M. Farnquist, II, Benjamin B. Edinger, William J. Parsons
