    Abstract: The present invention provides an antisense oligonucleotide that specifically binds to an antioxidant enzyme start codon so as to inhibit the level of antioxidant enzymes in a cell. The present invention further provides methods of treating an antioxidant enzyme malfunction disorder in a mammal by reducing antioxidant enzyme levels in a cell with the administration of the antisense oligonucleotide.
