  • Publication number: 20110243804
Abstract: A method and system for recovering heat in a gasifier are provided. The gasifier includes a pressure vessel including a substantially cylindrical shell, an upper head, and a lower head. The gasifier also includes a refractory wall substantially concentric with the shell and spaced apart radially inwardly from the shell, and a superheater heat exchanger mounted between the shell and the refractory wall.

  • Publication number: 20100294858
Abstract: Methods and systems for a feed injector are provided. The feed injector includes a first annular channel defined in the feed injector. The first annular channel includes a first end, an arcuate portion and a second end. The arcuate portion is between the first and second ends, and the first annular channel is oriented substantially concentrically about a longitudinal axis of the feed injector. The arcuate portion is oriented to discharge a fluid flowing through the first annular channel radially outward with respect to the longitudinal axis. The feed injector also includes a second annular channel including a first end, an arcuate portion, and a second end, wherein the arcuate portion is between the first and second ends. The second annular channel circumscribes the first annular channel, and the second annular channel first end is positioned radially outward and downstream from the first annular channel first end.

  • Publication number: 20090173484
Abstract: Methods and systems for a vessel preheating system are provided. The system includes a pressure vessel including an area of excess heat and an area of deficient heat, a plenum defined between the area of excess heat and the area of deficient heat, and a conduit configured to couple a flow of purge fluid from external to the vessel into the plenum wherein heat from the area of excess heat is transferred to the flow of purge fluid in the plenum and the heat is carried by the flow of purge fluid into the area of deficient heat such that the flow of purge fluid purges the area of deficient heat.
