  • Patent number: 9554201
Abstract: An audio device includes a housing having first and second support surfaces for supporting the device at different orientations relative to the surface on which the device is placed, a driver to output sound in a radiating pattern associated with a first axis of the driver, and an orientation sensor to detect a direction of a force of gravity. A control circuit coupled to the driver and the orientation sensor determines the direction of the force of gravity relative to the first axis and whether the first axis is oriented to one of a first angle of elevation associated with physically supporting the device by the first surface and a second angle of elevation associated with physically supporting the device by the second surface. The circuit can alters the output by the driver based on the first axis being oriented to the first or second angles of elevation.

  • Patent number: 8841799
Abstract: A plurality of normally-open pushbutton switches are coupled to and cooperate with a pair of MOSFETs to provide each pushbutton switch of the plurality of pushbutton switches with a power on switch function for a personal audio device that does not require power to be drawn from a power source to monitor each of the pushbutton switches or to identify which of the pushbutton switches was manually operated to power on the personal audio device while awaiting operation of one of the pushbutton switches to cause the personal audio device to be powered on.

  • Publication number: 20140181329
Abstract: A detachable audio device structured to be coupled to an interface port of a computer system simulates the coupling and uncoupling of an audio controller to trigger an operating system being executed by a processing device of the computer system to select between an audio driver for that same audio controller and another audio driver for a different audio controller to which the processing device of the computer system has access, thus triggering a selection between causing audio played by the computer system to be acoustically output through either an acoustic driver to which the detachable audio device relays the audio or another acoustic driver associated with the other audio controller to which the processing device of the computer system has access.

  • Patent number: 8601394
Abstract: A user interface for an audio/visual device enables a user to customize the selection of menu items that are displayable on a menu, perhaps a racetrack menu, provided by the user interface to enable the user to operate the audio/visual device, in which a multitude of menu items that may be selected for being so displayed are visually displayed and the user is able to operate a first manually-operable control (or a first set of manually-operable controls) to select a menu item from among that multitude for being displayed on the menu. It may be that the menu is simultaneously displayed with the multitude of menu items to enable the user to immediately see the results of their selections. It may be that the user is able to again select that menu item within the multitude of menu items to cause that menu item to cease being displayed on the menu.
