Publication number: 20240343192Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a left side view camera attached to the left lateral side of the body and having a field of view in a rearward direction. A right side view camera is attached to the right lateral side of the body and has a field of view in a rearward direction. There is a right back up camera and a left back up camera. An optics module receives resulting video signals and produces light fields such that the light fields are reflected off of windows of the motor vehicle and are then visible to a driver of the motor vehicle as virtual images.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2024Publication date: October 17, 2024Inventor: BENJAMIN DAVID SWEET

Patent number: 10380990Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine and/or powertrain producing noise that is audible in a passenger compartment of the vehicle when the engine and/or powertrain is running. An active noise control arrangement includes a first loudspeaker disposed within a passenger compartment of the vehicle. A digital signal processor receives audio data and transmits an audio signal to the first loudspeaker dependent upon the audio data. A microphone is disposed within the passenger compartment and converts the sound from the first loudspeaker and the noise within the passenger compartment into a microphone signal. The microphone signal is transmitted to the digital signal processor, and the digital signal processor modifies the audio signal such that the audio signal attenuates the noise in the passenger compartment.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2018Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America, Division of Panasonic Corporation of North AmericaInventors: Benjamin David Sweet, Richard Lawrence Cooper

Patent number: 7239957Abstract: A method and system are provided for processing multiple sensor output signals of different ranges/sensitivities so as to provide a seamless transition when switching between the different ranges. More specifically, a determination is made as to whether a selected sensor output range is of a sensitivity higher than a predetermined sensitivity. If the sensitivity is higher, the value of a higher sensitivity sensor output is converted to a value corresponding to the predetermined sensitivity range. An error value is then determined between the converted sensor output value and a sensor output corresponding to a range having the predetermined sensitivity. The sensor output is then modified based on the error value when the control process switches from the selected sensor output to the sensor output corresponding to the predetermined sensitivity. This insures that no glitches will occur in a controller output at the time of switchover.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2000Date of Patent: July 3, 2007Assignee: Visteon Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin David Sweet, Charles Francis Weber, Jack Bruce Marshall

Patent number: 6378493Abstract: An electronic throttle control system including a throttle valve for adjusting the amount of air drawn into the engine is disclosed. A throttle valve is controlled by a throttle position feedback controller which suspends an integration element when position error absolute value is greater than a threshold, or when the position rate absolute value is greater than another threshold. The integration element includes an integration increment such that generation of the integration increment begins by a determination made of the position error between the throttle position and the position command. Once a determination of the sign of position error is made, a gain is applied to the position error. Also, a gain is applied to the sign of position error. The integration element of the throttle position feedback controller then operates with the position error and the sign of position error. The throttle valve then reacts in response to the throttle position feedback controller.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2000Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: Visteon Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Ross Dykstra Pursifull, Benjamin David Sweet
