  • Patent number: 11408592
Abstract: An optical structure for controlling distribution of light generated by a light source is described. The optical structure includes a primary optics disposed relative to the light source and configured to reflect light generated by the light source towards a target region. The optical structure also includes a secondary optics disposed and aligned relative to the primary optics. The secondary optics is configured to at least partially block light generated by the light source from illuminating a region outside the target region.

  • Publication number: 20220225484
Abstract: A system for emitting light (such as a luminaire) includes a first light emitting diode (LED) string and a first LED driver that is electrically connected in parallel to the first LED string. The system also may include a second (or more) LED string(s), each associated with an additional LED driver. One-way conductors and normally-open switches are used so that if one LED driver fails, the remaining LED driver(s) will deliver power to the failed driver's LED string so that the light remains operational, but with a reduced brightness.

  • Publication number: 20220223049
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture for observer-based landing control of a vehicle are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, and at least one processor to execute instructions to at least in response to determining an aircraft is in a flight plan flare regime, determine an estimate state of an aircraft parameter based on an execution of a transfer function of an observer model, the execution of the transfer function based on an altitude command corresponding to the flare regime, determine a gain value based on the aircraft parameter, determine an altitude control input based on the estimate state and the gain value, determine an altitude command output based on the altitude control input and longitudinal dynamics of the aircraft, the longitudinal dynamics generated in response to the aircraft executing the altitude command output, and control an elevator of the aircraft based on the altitude command output.

  • Publication number: 20220203556
Abstract: A system for controllably establishing adhesion or friction with an external body. The system comprises a channel member and an interface member. The channel member comprises fluidic channels communicating positive or negative pressure. The interface member is disposed over the channel member. The interface member comprises exposed portions and topographic members. The exposed portions are flexible and exposed to the pressure communicated by the fluidic channels. The exposed portions deform under the pressure communicated by the fluidic channels and reform in the absence of the pressure communicated by the fluidic channels. The exposed portions assume a convex shaped under positive pressure and concave shaped configuration under negative pressure. The topographic members are provided over the exposed portions. The topographic members move based on the deformation of the exposed portions. The strength of adhesion varies based on the deformation of the exposed portions.

  • Publication number: 20220192533
Abstract: A swallowable device to detect sleep apnea in a patient in need thereof. The swallowable device includes an ingestible capsule. An accelerometer is contained within the ingestible capsule and is configured to reside within the stomach to detect a respiration parameter(s) indicative of sleep apnea and generate a sensing signal based thereon. The ingestible capsule also includes a radio contained within the ingestible capsule and a micro-controller unit (MCU) in electrical communication with the accelerometer and the radio and configured and programmed to receive the sensing signal. The ingestible capsule can also include a microphone to detect a respiration parameter(s) indicative of sleep apnea and/or snoring.

  • Publication number: 20220134480
Abstract: Methods, computer program products, and apparatuses for reducing sticking during a lithography process are disclosed. An exemplary method of reducing sticking of an object to a modified surface that is used to support the object in a lithography process can include controlling a light source to deliver light to a native surface thereby causing ablation of at least a portion of the native surface to increase the roughness of the native surface thereby forming the modified surface. The increased roughness reduces the ability of the object to stick to the modified surface.
