Abstract: A collection pouch for bodily fluids/waste has a plurality of flexible polymer film layers. At least two layers form a collecting bag for containing bodily fluids/waste, with front and rear walls formed from the film layers. An opening is formed in the rear wall of the bag for receiving bodily fluids/waste. A flexible material cover covers the collecting bag and a peripheral bonding seam extends along an upper edge the apparatus that bonds at least part of the bag and cover together. One or more strengthening elements are formed by a region of bonding between a film layer at the upper end of the pouch and the cover. The strengthening elements are at the upper end of the pouch inwardly of the peripheral bonding seam and strengthen the upper section to maintain the shape of the upper end of the pouch and inhibit sagging as the collecting bag is filled.

Abstract: An ostomy pouch or wound bag includes a fluid tight collecting bag for containing bodily fluid or waste matter. The collecting bag includes an opening for receiving bodily fluid or waste matter. A flexible material cover is provided that at least partially covers the collecting bag. The cover comprises a front part arranged on a first side of the collecting bag that in use faces forward away from the wearer. The front part of the cover includes a first panel section having a viewing window through which the opening is visible and a cover panel section that is reconfigurable between a closed configuration in which at least part of the cover panel section covers and obscures the viewing window and the opening is obscured, and an open configuration in which the viewing window is uncovered and the stoma opening is at least partially visible.

Abstract: A seal for fitting around a stoma, comprising a single, flexible, adhesive material having a body in the shape of a split ring, having a first face for attaching to a peristomal surface, a second face for attaching to an ostomy appliance, a wall extending from the first face to the second face and providing an outer wall surface and an inner wall surface which defines an aperture for receiving the stoma, and a first end and a second end spaced apart to define an opening which extends from the outer wall surface to the inner wall surface, wherein the single material and oval, split ring shape of the seal causes the seal to be manipulable to fit around the stoma. Related methods and systems are also disclosed.
