Abstract: An apparatus for detecting an arc-fault in an electrical network includes a current sensor and at least one processor. The current sensor is configured to sense a current signal of the electrical network. The processor is configured to calculate a plurality of features that identify characteristics of the current signal; process, by each of a plurality of arc-fault detection algorithms, the plurality of features to generate a plurality of values; generate a plurality of trip decisions, each trip decision of the plurality of trip decisions based on whether a corresponding value of the plurality of values exceeds a pre-determined threshold; generate a vote result based on a vote from each of the plurality of trip decisions; determine whether to generate a trip signal based on the vote result; and generate the trip signal to trip a circuit breaker based on the determination.
