  • Patent number: 11944600
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of cannabinoids in the treatment of a neurodegenerative disease or disorder. In particular the cannabinoids cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and cannabidivarin (CBDV) were able to produce neuroprotective effects in a mouse model of neurodegenerative disease. In particular these effects were associated with the symptoms associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Furthermore, the combination of the cannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) with the drug olexisome provided a synergistic disease modifying effect in a mouse model of neurodegenerative disease. In particular these effects were associated with the symptoms associated with ALS.

  • Patent number: 11919127
Abstract: A pole sander is provided including an elongate body including a passageway for passage of air, an electric motor, and a sanding head attached via a pivot mechanism to a first end of the elongate body. The sanding head includes a hood including a plate and a sidewall to form a chamber, an output spindle projecting from the hood and rotatably driven by the electric motor, and a tubular passage including a first end forming an opening and a second end coupled to an aperture formed through the plate. A flexible pipe is disposed between the passageway at the first end of the elongate body and the opening of the tubular passage to fluidly connect the passageway to the chamber. The tubular passage is oriented at least partially around a portion of the output spindle in a turning direction of the output spindle and extending angularly from the plate.

  • Publication number: 20240071593
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide smart alerts to users, e.g., alerts to users about diabetic states that are only provided when it makes sense to do so, e.g., when the system can predict or estimate that the user is not already cognitively aware of their current condition, e.g., particularly where the current condition is a diabetic state warranting attention. In this way, the alert or alarm is personalized and made particularly effective for that user. Such systems and methods still alert the user when action is necessary, e.g., a bolus or temporary basal rate change, or provide a response to a missed bolus or a need for correction, but do not alert when action is unnecessary, e.g., if the user is already estimated or predicted to be cognitively aware of the diabetic state warranting attention, or if corrective action was already taken.

  • Patent number: 11910997
Abstract: Errors in a blended stream that would result in non-display or obscuring of a live video stream from a medical device may be automatically detected, and a failover stream corresponding to the first live video stream may be displayed to medical personnel. For example, one or more second input streams that are being blended may contain no data or invalid data which may result in the blended stream not displaying (or obscuring) the live video stream (if the blended were displayed). Switching from blending to a failover buffer may occur within the time to process a single video image frame. Upon detection (prior to display) that the blended stream would not display the live video stream, display of the live video stream from the failover buffer may be initiated. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 11398725
Abstract: Disclosed is a system that reduces fault currents in a power grid, thereby reducing the risk of unintentionally igniting a fire when an object comes in proximity to a high voltage power line. The circuit comprises an isolation transformer, a neutral connection, a current compensating device, and an automatic recloser or other circuit interrupting type protection system. The isolation transformer may comprise a delta-delta or delta-zigzag transformer with a one-to-one ratio between the input and output voltages and phase angle. The current compensating device is connected to the neutral and configured to redirect a substantial portion of a fault current to ground through the isolation transformer neutral instead of the fault itself. The current compensating device may comprise an arc suppression coil tuned to match the capacitance of the three phase outputs, or an inverter.

  • Patent number: 9103827
Abstract: An automated protein preparation technology that may use magnetic microparticles to isolate proteins in their native state from specific genomic loci of interest via the chromatin to which they are bound is described. After extraction, the targeted proteins may be purified for downstream analysis by quantitative mass spectrometry or ELISA. The identification of DNA-bound proteins, histones and their post-translational modification is of high scientific and pharmaceutical importance due to the role of DNA-binding proteins in the cauzation and development of human disease; in particular, cancer.

  • Patent number: 6341726
Abstract: A tray mapper uses an optical sensing array to detect if a head gimbal assembly suspension is located in each of the available positions in a shipping tray. Each tray to be inspected is placed on the mapper and located in a scanning position. A pair of electro-mechanical switches send a signal to a microprocessor indicating that the next tray is ready to be processed. A bar code reader mounted on the mapper reads a label on the tray to access information regarding the tray and its contents from a central database. After the tray label is read, an optical sensor located beneath each position on the tray detects the presence or absence of a part. The microprocessor reads the status of each of the sensors against the values associated with the tray label. This information is used by the operator's data terminal software to decide if the tray should be accepted or rejected. The operator is informed of the proper action via a text message on his terminal. The operator then handles the tray accordingly.

  • Patent number: 5826607
Abstract: A dual exhaust controller for maintaining isolation between the flows of two different gases in a chamber. The controller includes first and second gas input valves connected between respective first and second sources of different gases and a processing chamber. A pump is fluidly connected to the chamber for exhausting gases therefrom and has first and second gas exhaust valves connected to an outlet of the pump. A gas flow control interlocks the signals operating the gas input valves with the states of first and second gas exhaust valves which exhaust the respective first and second gases from the chamber, so that the different gases are exhausted independently.
