  • Publication number: 20240331296
Abstract: The technology provides enhanced co-presence of interactive media participants without high quality video or other photo-realistic representations of the participants. A low-resolution graphical representation (318) of a participant provides real-time dynamic co-presence. Face detection captures a maximum amount of facial expression with minimum detail in order to construct the low-resolution graphical representation. A set of facial mesh data (304) is generated by the face detection to include a minimal amount of information about the participant's face per frame. The mesh data, such as facial key points, is provided to one or more user devices so that the graphical representation of the participant can be rendered in a shared app at the other device(s) (308, 804).

  • Publication number: 20240320904
Abstract: The technology provides tactile copresence for participants working in a real-time remote collaborative arrangement. This enhanced user experience enables different users to work remotely through their own local physical media such as whiteboards, large screen displays or poster boards (208, 228, 262, 272). Participants are able to view a common workspace in the same way, and are able to experience tactile copresence via silhouette representations (106, 312, 600) of the other people. A method includes receiving depth map information of a participant at a first location, the depth map information being derived from a raw image captured at the first location (904). A presence shadow for the participant is generated by a computing device associated with a different location, in which the presence shadow reprojects aspects of the participant according to the depth map information where the aspects are blurred according to a proximity of each aspect to a physical medium at the first location (906).

  • Publication number: 20220413688
Abstract: The disclosure provides for methods and systems, including computer-readable storage media encoded with a computer program, for generating a composite content presentation from a primary presentation and multiple sub-presentations. The sub-presentations and the primary presentation can be presented seamlessly in the composite presentation with a common appearance through at least some common display elements, such as a navigation bar, appearing across each presentation. Some display elements, such as the navigation bar, may be controlled by the author of the composite presentation, while other display elements unique to each sub-presentation may be controlled by the author of the sub-presentation.

  • Patent number: 10784745
Abstract: A stator for an electrical machine (e.g., a motor or generator) is described. The stator includes a stator core consisting of a plurality of axially adjacent generally annular laminations. The stator has axially extending stator teeth between adjacent pairs of which are formed axially extending stator slots for receiving conductors of a stator winding. At least one of the stator teeth includes an axially extending cooling passageway through which a cooling fluid flows in use. The electrical machine can include means for circulating cooling fluid through the cooling passageway(s) to cool the stacked laminations and means for circulating air around the stator along an air cooling circuit where the circulated air is cooled by the stator laminations and there is no need for a separate heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 9979499
Abstract: Intensifying contextually relevant sound events for time-delayed broadcast uses multiple directional microphones that capture sound events from a specific location within regions of a stadium. The events are contextually relevant to the environment, such as a referee's whistle sound. A processor executes signal processing of the captured events on each channel to produce audio samples each having a signal profile. The profiles are automatically compared to reference feature templates stored in a database, correspond to pre-identified sound events of contextual relevance. The signal processing accentuates characteristic traits in the events, reflective of contextually relevant events that should be included in a final composite audio output for transmission. If the comparison of samples to the feature templates suggests a high probability of a correspondence, then buffered audio for that channel is introduced into a final audio mix.

  • Publication number: 20160326212
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for selectively converting a cysteine residue in a peptide or protein to the dehydroalanine (Dha) residue. The method also works on selenocysteine and substituted cysteine and selenocysteine residues, resulting in the Dha residue which may be converted to any natural or unnatural amino acid residue desired without the alteration of the remainder of the peptide or protein. The invention also allows ligation of a desired peptide at any point rather than at a point where there should be a naturally occurring cysteine, thereby allowing native chemical ligation to be used in the synthesis of peptides that do not contain cysteine. The methodology allows for the synthesis of very large peptides.

  • Publication number: 20150367927
Abstract: A drive shaft including an inner shaft having a first end that is adapted to be connectable to a first connecting shaft that is rotated by torque applied by an external electrical machine, and a second end that is adapted to be connectable to a second connecting shaft. A hollow outer shaft, coaxial with the inner shaft, defines at least part of a rotor assembly of an associated electrical machine. The outer shaft is adapted to be releasably connected to the inner shaft so that the drive shaft is selectively configurable in a first arrangement for normal operating conditions where the outer shaft is connected to the inner shaft for rotation therewith, and a second arrangement where the outer shaft is not connected to the inner shaft.
