Abstract: A wearable ultrasound patch may include one or more layers, including a backing layer, a transducer layer, a matching layer, and an adhesive layer. The matching layer may include liquid-metal microdroplets dispersed within an elastomer. A volume loading and/or diameter of the liquid-metal microdroplets may tune the acoustic impedance of the matching layer such that the matching layer may provide acoustic matching via a geometric mean between an acoustic impedance of piezoelectric elements of the transducer layer and a skin on which the wearable ultrasound patch is worn. The wearable ultrasound patch may be used in a system with a pulser-receiver.
