Patent number: 12203889Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are provided for examining a object under test. The apparatus can include a housing and a handle. The housing can include a sensing unit including a plurality of ultrasonic transducers, a circuit, a control unit, a display unit, and a communication interface. The circuit can include a memory, and a plurality of transceiver circuits coupled to the plurality of ultrasonic transducers. On receiving a triggering signal, the plurality of ultrasonic transducers emanates an ultrasonic beam to a object under test and can sense a reflected ultrasonic beam to generate a sensed signal. The control unit can process the received sensed signal to provide a processed data. The display unit can display the processed data. The communication interface can transmit the processed data to a monitoring device over a network. The handle has a frame configured to support the housing and allow the housing to rotate.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2022Date of Patent: January 21, 2025Assignee: Baker Hughes Holdings LLCInventors: Benjamin Hoemske, Johannes Buechler, Tobias Bruch

Patent number: 11981070Abstract: An ultrasonic probe and methods of manufacture are provided. The method can include depositing a base layer on a platform. The method can also include depositing a first portion of a first functional layer on the base layer. The method can further include positioning a first surface of an ultrasonic transducer on the first portion of the first functional layer. The transducer can further include a second surface opposite the first surface and opposed first and second sides. The first and second sides can be transverse to the first and second surfaces. The method can additionally include depositing a second portion of the first functional layer on the first and second sides of the transducer. The method can further include depositing a second functional layer upon the second surface of the transducer. The transducer can be encapsulated by the first functional layer and the second functional layer.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2022Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: Baker Hughes Holdings LLCInventor: Benjamin Hoemske

Patent number: 11460448Abstract: A wear sole, an ultrasonic inspection apparatus having a wear sole, and methods for using the same are provided. In one embodiment, the ultrasonic inspection apparatus can include a body, a wear sole, and a fluid channel. The body can define a first chamber configured to receive a first volume of ultrasonic couplant and a distal end of an ultrasonic probe. The wear sole can define a second chamber configured to receive a second volume of ultrasonic couplant and the wear sole can be removably coupled to a distal end of the body. The wear sole can also have a membrane extending thereacross for separating the first chamber from the second chamber. The fluid channel can extend through the body and the wear sole can be configured to deliver the second volume of ultrasonic couplant to the second chamber.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2018Date of Patent: October 4, 2022Assignee: GE SENSING & INSPECTION TECHNOLOGIES GMBHInventors: René Pfortje, Benjamin Hoemske, Christof Breidenback, Alexander Fiseni, Stephan Falter
