  • Publication number: 20190309517
Abstract: Herein disclosed is an asphalt roofing shingle, adapted to be laid up in courses on a roof, comprising an upper headlap portion, a lower tab portion, vertically spaced apart upper and lower edges, laterally spaced apart right and left edges and top and bottom surfaces. The bottom surface is configured to be laid up on a roof facing the roof and the tab portion of the top surface is configured to be substantially weather-exposed when laid up on a roof. The upper headlap portion is configured to be substantially covered by the tab portion of roofing elements in a next-overlying course of roofing elements when laid up on a roof. The upper headlap portion further comprises a plurality of parallel, evenly laterally spaced, first markings, the first markings being useful, at least, for aligning adjacent shingles, cutting books of shingles, forming starter shingles from full shingles and forming a grid of shingles without external measuring devices.

  • Publication number: 20190309519
Abstract: A multi-part roofing underlayment having independent release liners, where the underlayment comprises separable portions attached adjacent top edges of the separable portions, creating an interface therebetween into which roofing components may be inserted, easing installation and better mitigating wind-driven rain and ice dam related roof failures. Embodiments provide the multi-part roofing underlayment in sheet and roll forms and with various configurations of release liners, adhesive layers, granular layers, selvedge edges, and plastic layers.

  • Publication number: 20190284814
Abstract: Roof-to-wall flashing having a cavity formed from a closed hem that permits for the installation of new flashing into the cavity when installing a second layer roof, without removing the existing wall flashing and siding. The ledge acts like a hinge or spring which becomes compressed once siding or exterior product is placed onto ledge. The hinge or spring-like effect compresses the cavity, assisting in holding second layer flashings in place.

  • Publication number: 20190284813
Abstract: Headwall flashing and sloped wall flashing, each having a ledge, where the ledges are designed to meet at an outside corner of a roof protrusion comprising a headwall and a cheek wall, the headwall flashing being configured to abut a face of the roof protrusion and having a downwardly-angled ledge that ties into the ledge of the sloped roof flashing, which is angled such that it forms a consistent ledge for installation of siding up a cheek wall, despite the siding creating a shimming effect that would typically result in a stepped appearance and misalignment thereof.

  • Publication number: 20190284810
Abstract: Hereby is disclosed a second layer roofing drip edge with a protruding edge. The drip edge covers an existing drip edge and shingles at the eave and rake prior to the installation of the next roofing system. The protruding edge may be notched on one section and not the other section as they abut. The protruding edge bottom fold or bottom face of the drip edge may be fabricated with a groove or projection preventing capillary action of water across the plane and dropping behind the gutter.
