Abstract: Provided herein are ballistic armor articles including a first layer of ballistic material modified to permit a projectile to pass therethrough, a second layer of ballistic material for inhibiting the projectile from passing therethrough, and a connecting portion of ballistic material for preventing the projectile from passing therethrough, the connecting portion extending between the first and second layers, wherein, the connecting portion is positioned to inhibit the projectile from exiting the ballistic armor article due to ricocheting or spinning caused by impact between the projectile and the second layer.
