Publication number: 20200061193Abstract: Cross-linked shear-thinning fluids of pectic acid demonstrating increased viscosity with decreasing shear, as well as methods of producing and using the same. A shear-thinning fluid includes an aqueous solution of pectic acid cross-linked by a divalent cation is disclosed. The pectic acid may be present in an amount ranging from about 0.5 to about 3.0% (w/v), the divalent cation may be present at a concentration of from about 0.5 mM to about 7.0 mM, and the viscosity of the shear-thinning fluid increases with decreasing shear. These cross-linked shear-thinning fluids of pectic acid can be utilized for controlled release formulations, cell encapsulation, and 3D printing, and provide for an improved balance between structure fidelity/mechanical stability and cell viability.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 7, 2018Publication date: February 27, 2020Inventors: Theresa Chang, Huayun Deng, Benjamin Leonard Linchuck, Ying Wei, Ying Zhang, Yue Zhou

Publication number: 20180181269Abstract: In an embodiment, a content assembly platform (CAP) presents a structured user interface arranged for structured receipt of authored content. The CAP receives content for a content piece via the structured user interface. The CAP presents the received content via the structured user interface according to a set of predetermined content-display rules. The CAP stores the received content in a content management system (CMS) for online publication of the content piece according to the predetermined set of content-display rules. The CAP receives an instruction to publish the content piece to a print-production system, and responsively packages the received content in a print-production-system-readable format and transmits the packaged content to the print-production system.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2017Publication date: June 28, 2018Inventors: James Perez, Honest Charley Bodkin, Benjamin Leonard Welsh, Evan Wagstaff, Lily Mazet Mihalik

Patent number: 8596379Abstract: The level of hydrogen sulfide in drilling fluid within a well formed in the Earth is assessed in an ongoing and/or in situ manner. The well may be constructed for the removal of hydrocarbons from the Earth. The assessment of hydrogen sulfide level may be provided in an ongoing manner such that real time, or near real time, fluctuations in hydrogen sulfide levels in the drilling fluid within the well may be conveyed to users. This may provide various advantages over systems in which drilling fluid must be extracted and separately tested for hydrogen sulfide content, and/or in which assessments of hydrogen sulfide level require time for performance.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2010Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignees: Chevron U.S.A. Inc., Los Alamos National SecurityInventors: Benjamin Leonard, Gerard Simon, Gregory Russ Goddard
