  • Publication number: 20230288375
Abstract: A structure including a substrate and a coating over the substrate is acoustically excited to measure acoustic response in the structure. The measured acoustic response in the structure is filtered to remove acoustic response of the substrate and determine acoustic response of the coating. The acoustic response of the coating is used to inspect the coating for failure.

  • Publication number: 20220136341
Abstract: A coated pipe to transmit produced fluids in a system configured to recover hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation may include a pipe component configured to transmit the produced fluids and having an internal surface defining an inner diameter of the pipe component; and a coating deposited on the internal surface of the pipe component and configured to extend the life of the pipe component by mitigating erosion caused by the produced fluids during transmission thereof.

  • Publication number: 20170051157
Abstract: Disclosed are coating compositions, methods for preparing the coatings and coatings made therefrom. The coatings have durable functional and damage healing properties. In some embodiments, compositions include a liquid media, surface modified diatomaceous earth (SMDE) particles chemically modified to impart a desired fluid wettability suspended in the liquid media, and microcapsules suspended in the liquid media. The SMDE particles are chemically modified through the use of various silanes imparting hydrophobicity, hydrophilicity, oleophobicity, or oleophilicity. In certain embodiments, the SMDE particles and the microcapsules are in different coating layers. In certain embodiments, compositions are in the form of powder coatings including mixtures of powder epoxy particles, SMDE particles chemically modified to impart a desired fluid wettability, and microcapsules. Disclosed further are methods for coating articles with the coatings and the coated articles.

  • Patent number: 5998500
Abstract: This invention relates to a filter and a method of making a filter. The filter is made of randomly orientated fibers made from an interpenetrating network formed from at least two polymers which are substantially water soluble in their salt form and which ionically interact in an aqueous solution to form the interpenetrating network. The filter is made without organic solvents, particularly, volatile organic compounds, and the filter is sufficiently water soluble to biodegrade upon disposal. A desired use of the filter is a cigarette filter.

    Filed: June 23, 1998
Date of Patent: December 7, 1999
Inventors: Scott A. Cahill, Benjamin M. Chaloner-Gill, Amin Hassan
