Abstract: A combination ladder with a hinge mechanism that utilizes a single latch bar to activate a pair of hinges to allow the ladder to lock into folded, A-frame, and extension ladder positions. The latch mechanism and hinge are located adjacent to the convertible ladder top cap to maximize the ladder length when in the extension position.

The cart allows for complete dumping while maintaining four wheels on the ground and can rotate the rear set of wheels to allow the bed of the cart to be completely turned over for emptying. Also disclosed is a method of attaching an article retaining bed to a cart.

Specifically disclosed are hand truck structures such as toe plates, wheel supports, handles, and lock mechanisms, as well as methods of construction and manufacturing. Toe plate support structure and geometry as well as manufacturing methods improve strength and functionality. Handle designs to improve maneuverability as well as comfort while using a hand truck are also disclosed.

Abstract: A portable hose reel for storing and transporting a garden hose is disclosed. The spool of the hose reel has blow-molded flanges and single core to simplify assembly and provide increased strength. The hose reel also includes an unobtrusive hose connector and strain relief member to align the hose on the spool. In addition, a bow tie shape of the spool in combination with a metal frame geometry increases stability while winding or unwinding a garden hose. The hose reel further includes seal having a double O-rings each with a polytetrafluoroethylene backer to improve performance and longevity. Improved torque transmission from the hose reel crank to the spool is provided by a combination of the hose connector being embedded in a spool flange with a tabbed spacer block connected to the spool axel by a set bolt.
