The method including: fluidly connecting channels for transporting fluids within an endoscope to each other at a distal end of the endoscope, the channels extending from a respective connection port to the distal end of the endoscope; connecting a suction pump, to at least one of the connection ports or to the distal end of the endoscope; connecting at least one vessel that holds liquid to the at least one of the connection ports; and flushing at least one of the channels with liquid by activating the suction pump so that liquid is drawn from the at least one vessel through the at least one channel towards the suction pump.

The channel openings are connected to the liquid source, suction pump, or sealing element. The first channel opening is at an end of a first channel section and at a distal end of the endoscope. The second channel opening is at an end of a second channel section and is a connection port. The third channel opening is at an end of a third channel section and is a connection port. The liquid source provides a gas-tight seal, has a holding chamber with a volume for holding liquid, and the holding chamber volume is changeable. The suction pump is activated for drawing liquid from the liquid source, wherein the holding chamber volume reduces during drawing of liquid from the liquid source.
