  • Publication number: 20220007956
Abstract: An impedance measurement system for performing a bioimpedance measurement on a biological subject, the system including a signal generator configured to apply alternating signals to at least part of the biological subject at a plurality of different frequencies, a sensor configured to measure response signals from the biological subject and one or more electronic processing devices that determine impedance values obtained at the plurality of different frequencies using the measured response signals, calculate an impedance curve using a curve fitting algorithm, determine a deviation of the impedance curve from the impedance measurements and use the deviation to perform an evaluation of the impedance measurements.

  • Publication number: 20210361185
Abstract: Electrical impedance myography (EIM) can be used for assessment and diagnosis of muscular disorders. EIM includes applying an electrical signal to a region of tissue and measuring a resulting signal. A characteristic of the region of tissue is determined based on the measurement. Performing EIM at different frequencies and modeling one or more impedance metrics as a function of frequency may provide impedance model parameters that can aid in the assessment and diagnosis. Devices are described that facilitate assessment and diagnosis using EIM.

  • Publication number: 20190110710
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and devices used to recognize the extent and deepness of infarcted tissue, such as chronic myocardial infarcted tissue. This applies to the heart tissue, but can also be used to assess cicatricial processes in other organs. Examples include injecting pulses of alternating current at a broadband of frequencies while measuring the voltage signal continuously (at a very high sampling rate) to obtain the electrical impedance (Z(f,t)) during the entire cardiac cycle. The impedance measurements may be taken using an intracavitary electrocatheter.

  • Publication number: 20160032234
Abstract: Devices and methods for stimulating mechanically or electromechanically stem cell monolayer and 3D cultures for tissue engineering applications are disclosed. A bracket is proposed to be used in a disposable stimulation device. A disposable stimulation device is also proposed for accommodating a cell culture in a flexible area. Finally, an apparatus is proposed to mechanically extend the disposable stimulation device to induce mechanical stimulation. Additionally, a pair of electrodes placed at two opposing sides of the flexible area creates an electric field to induce electrical stimulation. Accordingly, a method to stimulate electromechanically a cell culture is proposed.
