  • Publication number: 20100083535
Abstract: An article of footwear includes an upper, a sole attached to the upper, and an impact absorber attached to the upper at least along a midfoot region of the upper and capable of absorbing a portion of a lateral impact when the impact absorber is moved into contact with a top surface of the sole. The impact absorber is be integrally formed with the sole and has a width that varies along a length of the impact absorber. The width of the impact absorber decreases in a forefoot region and a heel region. The upper rolls to contact the top surface of the sole upon lateral impact. The sole and the upper may be attached asymmetrically.

  • Publication number: 20090277043
Abstract: An article of footwear with an integrated arch strap and eyestays is disclosed. The integrated arch strap provides arch support adjustable by a wearer through the tightening of a lace. Furthermore, the adjustment of the integrated arch strap allows some customization of the width of the footwear.

  • Publication number: 20070279953
Abstract: An energy delivery system includes at least one string of two or more energy delivery modules electrically coupled in series. Each energy delivery module includes one or more energy delivery devices for storing and delivering electrical current, and a module monitor for monitoring and controlling each of the energy delivery devices. Each string of energy delivery modules includes a string communication path accessible to each of the energy delivery modules, wherein the module monitor of each energy delivery module is operable to communicate information associated with its energy delivery module through the string communication path. Each string also includes a string manager device for communicating with each module monitor in the string, through the string communication path. The energy delivery system also includes a system controller for communicating with each string manager device through a system communication path.

  • Patent number: 5702401
Abstract: An intra-articular measuring device and method of using same, the device including a hollow handle defining a first passageway, and a hollow tube extending from the distal end of the hollow handle, the tube having a second passageway extending therethrough. The hollow tube carries a projection near its distal end for seating on a first selected region of a first bone, such as a tibial insertion point on a tibial plateau. The device further includes a probe slideably disposed within the first and second passageways, the hollow tube having a curvature sufficient to direct a distal end of the probe to a second selected region on a second bone, such as a femoral insertion point on a femur, to enable measurement of the distance between the first and second selected regions. Preferably, the probe includes a shaft extending proximally beyond the handle, the shaft carrying a gauge alignable with the proximal end of the handle to indicate the distance between the first and second selected regions.

  • Patent number: 5688276
Abstract: An adjustable implant holder instrument having a proximal handle with a movable actuator mechanism. An elongated shaft has a proximal end connected to the proximal handle and has a distal end pivotably interconnected with a holding member which removably carries a surgical implant. A connecting element transfers force, applied to the actuator mechanism, to the holding member to enable selective orientation of the holding member relative to the shaft.
