  • Publication number: 20070106166
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods ensure positioning of a blood pressure cuff on an arm to affect accurate measurements of blood pressure. An apparatus includes an elongated air bag of predetermined length disposed in the blood pressure cuff and adapted for inflation. The length has opposite ends to be placed around the arm. The apparatus also includes an appendage affixed to the cuff and extended from a bottom edge of the cuff. The appendage is affixed in a position relative to the cuff and formed in shape to fit an elbow in a manner that ensures the cuff is positioned to affect an accurate measurement of the blood pressure. Additionally the apparatus includes a tube attached to the cuff. When the cuff is positioned around the arm and the appendage is positioned on the elbow, a measuring end of the tube is forced into position near a brachial artery of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20060293916
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide methods, systems, and computer-readable media for enabling collaborative communication between browser and non-browser components in an advanced patient management system. In one embodiment, patient data in the advanced patient management system is selected in a browser component. The browser component may include an Internet web browser which displays the patient data as a web page. A non-browser component is utilized to detect the patient data in the browser component and display the patient data. The non-browser component may be configured as a plug-in software module to the web browser. The non-browser component may further be utilized to modify patient data and display the modified patient data in the browser component. The modified patient data may include settings associated with a patient monitoring device in the advanced patient management system.

  • Publication number: 20060253300
Abstract: A system and method for managing patient triage in an automated patient management system is presented. A criteria for placement of patient data into a display is defined for a plurality of remotely managed patients. The patient data originates from one or more patient data sources operating on each such patient and selected from at least one of a physiological sensor and a therapy delivery device. An ordering of the patient data within the display is defined based on a need of care in relation to one or more of a type of health condition, severity of the health condition, and facilities available to attend to the health condition. An organization of the patient data within the display is defined in relation to metadata associated with the patient data.
