Publication number: 20210137231Abstract: A method for manufacturing a case for a mobile device with a screen, in which the case has a band arranged to surround the edge of the device, includes supplying a band having a layer of flexible polymer; and in either an insert molding process or in a dual injection process, applying damping material on the layer of the flexible polymer of the band. The damping material has a plurality of integrally formed protrusions projecting inwardly from a substantial portion of the inner periphery of the band to engage with the device. The protrusions are arranged such that, in use there is substantially no contact between the band and the device other than through the protrusion. Further, the protrusions are provided at least in the corner regions of the case.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2021Publication date: May 13, 2021Inventors: Jason ROBERTS, Wilhelm MARSCHALL, Benjamin THORPE

Publication number: 20210052053Abstract: A cover for a mobile device with a screen includes the cover being configured to be pivotally connected a first edge 22 to a body 1 of a case having a generally rectangular shape and configured to receive the mobile device. The cover has a second free edge 19 opposite to the first edge, the cover being positioned in a closed position in which it substantially overlies the body to cover the device. An inner face faces the body in the closed position and an outer face is opposite to inner face. An inner layer 10 of a first generally rigid material is provided towards the inner face and an there is an outer layer 11 of an elastic material. The cover has a fold line 13 parallel to the first and second edges and closer to the first edge than the second edge, the cover being foldable about the fold line so as to be manipulatable into a number of configurations.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2020Publication date: February 25, 2021Inventors: Jason ROBERTS, Benjamin THORPE, Thomas HOWARD, Daniel CANE

Patent number: 10925366Abstract: A method for manufacturing a case for a mobile device with a screen, includes using a band having a layer of flexible polymer as an insert mold or in a dual injection process, for applying discrete discontinuous and unconnected damping material on the layer of the flexible polymer of the band. The damping material is softer than the flexible polymer and has a plurality of integrally formed protrusions projecting inwardly from a substantial portion of the inner periphery of the band to engage with the mobile device. The protrusions are arranged such that, in use there is substantially no contact between the band and the device other than through the protrusions.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2017Date of Patent: February 23, 2021Assignee: TECH 21 LICENSING LIMITEDInventors: Jason Roberts, Wilhelm Marschall, Benjamin Thorpe

Patent number: 10694630Abstract: A case for a mobile communications device includes a main body and a cover. The main body defines a cavity to receive the device. The cover includes a cover portion selectively covering the cavity and a connection portion to connect the cover portion to the main body. The cover portion is formed, at least partially, of a flexible sheet. A free edge of the cover portion adjacent to the side wall opposite the connection portion is provided with a tab which is an extension of the flexible sheet material forming a cover portion. A stud fastener is fixed to the tab. Either the top, bottom or one of the side walls of the main body has an opening. When the cover portion is in its closed position, the tab moves so that the stud enters the opening and is resiliently deformed to hold the stud in the opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2017Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: TECH 21 LICENSING LIMITEDInventors: Jason Roberts, Benjamin Thorpe

Publication number: 20200050082Abstract: A case for a mobile electronic device with a screen on one face and at least one camera on an opposite face. The case comprises a main body having a back wall (1) and upstanding sidewalls to define a cavity for the device. The back wall (1) has an aperture (10) which is aligned with the camera in the device. A recess (11) is formed in the side of the back wall opposite to the side forming the cavity. The recess extending laterally to the aperture and extending only partially through the depth of the back wall. A shutter (14) is snap fitted into the recess (11) and is slidably mounted with respect to the aperture. The shutter is slidable between an open position in which the aperture is uncovered and a closed position in which the aperture is covered. The surface of the shutter (14) facing the cavity is configured to wipe the or each camera as the shutter moves between the open and closed positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2019Publication date: February 13, 2020Inventors: Jason ROBERTS, Benjamin THORPE, Thomas HOWARD, Thomas Wombwell

Patent number: 10542801Abstract: A method of manufacturing a case for a mobile electronic device is provided for cases having a generally rectangular shape, two long side walls extending substantially parallel to another, and two short end walls extending substantially parallel to one another between the long side walls. The method includes molding a case portion of a first material of a first hardness forming a substantial portion of the side walls and end walls, and a second material of a second hardness extending around the inner periphery of the first material wherein the first hardness is greater than the second hardness, presenting a strip to an outer periphery of the case portion, applying heat and pressure to a backing layer, and removing the backing strip from which the foil has been removed. The present method is advantageous in that it provides a case with a durable and chemically resistive finish.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2016Date of Patent: January 28, 2020Assignee: TECH 21 LICENSING LIMITEDInventors: Jason Roberts, Wilhelm Marschall, Benjamin Thorpe
