  • Publication number: 20230343040
Abstract: Augmented reality-based training systems are described that dynamically construct and render AR content based on physical attributes of a user to train the user to correctly fit one or more articles of a personal protective equipment (PPE) onto the user's body. In some examples, an AR system includes a display and a computing device having a memory and one or more processors. The memory includes instructions that when executed by the processors simulate a fitting of a PPE to a worker by capturing at least a first image of the worker; selecting a digital model of the PPE; determining an alignment of the digital model of the PPE to the first image of the worker; and outputting for display augmented reality content comprising a composite of a least a second image of the worker overlaid with the digital model of the PPE in accordance with the determined alignment.

  • Publication number: 20220215496
Abstract: A system includes an article of personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with a first worker and at least one computing device. The article of PPE includes a display device. The at least one computing device configured to receive an indication of audio data from a second worker, the audio data including a message. The at least one computing device is also configured to determine a risk level for the first worker and determine whether to display a visual representation of the message. The at least one computing device is further configured to output the visual representation of the message for display by the display device.

  • Publication number: 20220180260
Abstract: A system includes a plurality of articles of personal protective equipment (PPE) connected to form a network of articles of PPE, wherein each article of PPE is associated with a worker. Each article of PPE receives one or more first safety issue notifications from the network, shares the first safety issue notifications with the worker associated with the article of PPE via an output of the article of PPE, receives safety-related information at an input of the article of PPE, creates a second safety issue notification based on the safety-related information received at the input of the article of PPE, selects one or more of the other articles of PPE to receive the second safety issue notification and transmits the second safety issue notification over the network to the selected articles of PPE.

  • Publication number: 20220148404
Abstract: A system includes a piece of equipment and an article of personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with a first worker. The PPE establishes a communications channel between the article of PPE and the piece of industrial equipment, receives status information from the piece of industrial equipment via the communications channel, notifies the worker via the PPE of the status information received from the piece of industrial equipment, receives a response from the worker via the PPE, and transmits to the piece of industrial equipment, via the communications channel and based on the response, commands that cause a change in operation of the piece of industrial equipment.

  • Publication number: 20210221389
Abstract: A system and method for determining a sensing capability of a PAAV and for performing at least one operation of the PAAV as a function of at least one policy applied to the sensing capability determined for the PAAV. A sensing capability of the PAAV is determined at least in part on sensor data received from at least one sensor accuracy measurement feature deployed along a pathway. At least one operation of the PAAV is performed as a function of at least one policy applied to the sensing capability determined for the PAAV.

  • Publication number: 20210039669
Abstract: In some examples, a method of validating operation of a vehicle, includes determining, by the vehicle, a first version of a vehicle operating parameter via a vehicle instrument employed in a first measurement approach; calculating, by the vehicle, a second version of the vehicle operating parameter based on information indicated by two or more pathway articles associated with a vehicle pathway; determining, by the vehicle, if the first version of the vehicle operating parameter is approximately equal to the second version of the vehicle operating parameter; if the first version of the vehicle operating parameter is approximately equal to the second version of the vehicle operating parameter, validating the first measurement approach; and if the first version of the vehicle operating parameter is not approximately equal to the second version of the vehicle operating parameter, performing, by the vehicle, one or more actions.

  • Publication number: 20180107892
Abstract: A camera system with dual embedded optical character recognition (OCR) engines. The camera system includes a camera module for capturing an image of a vehicle, the image including a license plate with a license plate number containing characters; a first OCR engine that produces a first read and first confidence level by extracting the characters from the license plate; and a second OCR engine, different from the first OCR engine, that produces a second read and second confidence level extracting the characters from the license plate. The camera system further includes a comparator for comparing the first read to the second read. If the first read and the second read match, the system produces the matching read as a final read. If the first read and the second read do not match, a fusion module produces a final read using the first read, the first confidence level, the second read, and the second confidence level.

  • Publication number: 20170236019
Abstract: The inventors of the present application developed novel optically active materials, methods, and systems for reading identifying information on an optically active article. Specifically, the present application relates to substantially simultaneously capturing and/or processing a first optically active image and a second optically active image. In some embodiments, the first optically active image is taken at a first wavelength and the second optically active image is taken at a second wavelength, wherein the first wavelength is different from the second wavelength. In one aspect, the present applications relates to reading information on a license plate for purposes of vehicle identification.
