Patent number: 10433765Abstract: The present invention includes a system and device for aiding in the diagnosis of a physiological abnormality resulting in detectable, measurable variations in contents of breathed air. The system includes a handheld unit defining an airway, wherein the airway includes a plurality of sensors adapted to measure a plurality of parameters related to the presence of a physiological abnormality. The system further includes a control unit remotely connected to the handheld unit. The control unit includes a controller adapted to receive input signals from the handheld unit and remit output signals in response thereto. The output signals are usable by a user in determining the presence or absence of a physiological abnormality. The control unit further also can include a display adapted to display the output signals to a user thereby easing the determination of the physiological abnormality. The system further includes a mouthpiece selectively connectable to the handheld unit.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2007Date of Patent: October 8, 2019Assignee: DEKA Products Limited PartnershipInventors: Derek Geoffrey Kane, Gregory Randall Lanier, Jr., Eric Martin Soederberg, Benjamin Wallace Jones, Jr., Paul R. Patent number: 8992560Abstract: An instrument capable of providing large-area shielding within an isolated operating region, such as the eye, while being passable through a small incision in the region through which the instrument must be inserted. For example, an instrument capable of being passed through a typical 3 mm (or smaller) phacoemulsification incision without undue damage to ocular tissue, and which expands to provide large-area shielding, e.g. to occlude a large-diameter (e.g. approx. 6 mm) posterior capsule opening. The surgical instrument includes two or more leaves, the leaves being interconnected by at least one fastener in a manner that causes expansion of a leading or distal portion of the instrument when the following or proximal portions of each leaf are manipulated, whether by a user or through interaction with a wall of the incision.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2013Date of Patent: March 31, 2015Inventors: Anita Nevyas-Wallace, Benjamin Wallace

Patent number: 6832632Abstract: A direct replacement boost valve assembly for use in combination with a pressure regulator valve within the valve body of an automatic transmission is disclosed. The boost valve assembly functions to boost line pressure during high load conditions in response to torque signal fluid pressure, which is proportional to engine torque. The present boost valve assembly is comprised of hard-anodized aluminum valve pistons, which are disposed within a wear resistant aluminum sleeve for maximum service longevity. Annular lubrication grooves formed in the valve pistons which comprise the boost valve assembly retain a lubricating film of transmission fluid to center the valve pistons within the sleeve ensuring accurate operation and reducing mechanical wear. The present valve sleeve features a fluid inlet port system, which increases the delivery of torque signal fluid pressure to the boost valve in order to restore its function to original factory boost ratios and specifications.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2003Date of Patent: December 21, 2004Assignee: Sonnax Industries, Inc.Inventor: Benjamin A. Patent number: 6793601Abstract: A replacement 1-2 shift valve for an automatic transmission, which restores a smooth shift from first to second gear thereby correcting a shudder shift or a complete failure to shift from first to second gear is disclosed. The present 1-2 shift valve comprises a valve piston including at least one bi-directionally tapered valve stem that changes the direction of transmission fluid flow within the valve such that a rebound force is generated which acts to propel the valve piston in an axial direction toward the second gear position of the valve. The piston lands which comprise the valve piston are provided with a plurality of annular grooves that function to retain transmission fluid and to center the valve piston in its mating bore to resist to side loading during operation. In addition, the present valve piston is provided with an anodized surface finish, which increases service longevity.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2002Date of Patent: September 21, 2004Assignee: Sonnax Industries, Inc.Inventors: Robert C.
