  • Patent number: 6954675
Abstract: An audio chip with switchable audio output pathways that can be connected to an external circuit board comprises: an operational amplifier, a first output end, a second output end, a means for connection switch, and a status register. An audio signal is outputted to the external circuit board via a first output end of the audio chip. The operational amplifier receives the audio signal that, after amplification, is outputted to the external circuit board via a second output end of the audio chip. According to the connection configuration of the first and second outputs of the audio chip with respect to the external circuit board, an operator can adequately switch the means for connection switch so that a plurality of sound adjusters can control the audio signal delivered by the audio chip.

  • Patent number: 6584570
Abstract: Disclosed is a codec (coder/decoder) system with shadow buffers and method of performing a Power Down/Suspend mode operation on this codec system, which allows all the codecs in the codec system to know the operating status of each other so that system crash can be prevented during a power down/suspend operation. The codec system includes two or more codecs and associated codec controllers, with each codec controller including a status data buffer and a shadow buffer; and each codec controller utilizes the status data buffer therein for registering the operating status thereof and meanwhile utilizes the shadow buffer therein for storing a copy of the operating status data stored in the status data buffer of the other codec controller. The provision of the shallow buffers allows all the codecs in the codec system to be capable of knowing the operating status of each other. This feature can help prevent system crash during power down/suspend operation.

  • Publication number: 20030093589
Abstract: A method for initializing an add-on card of a computer and a control chip capable of coupling with the add-on card is provided, wherein the chip has thereon a shadow register, the add-on card has thereon a configuration read-only memory. The method includes steps of loading basic configuration data stored in the configuration read-only memory and required for the operation of the chip to the chip, and storing the basic configuration data in the shadow register when a basic input/output system (BIOS) performs a configuration-data reading action from the configuration read-only memory, and initializing the chip in response to the basic configuration data.

  • Publication number: 20020142635
Abstract: A motherboard with built-in sound effect, having a plurality of circuit devices, a printed circuit board, and an analog input/output (I/O) port connector. The circuit devices are used to provide circuit functions to the motherboard. The printed circuit board is used to carry the circuit devices and provide a circuit for connecting the circuit devices. The analog I/O port connector is used to provide an I/O analog audio signal. The analog I/O port connector has been specially designed.
