  • Patent number: 6607076
Abstract: A golf bag for carrying a set of golf clubs including woods, irons and putter with the heads of the woods and putter positioned upward and the heads of the irons positioned downward. The golf bag includes a generally tubular golf bag case having a substantially uniform cross section along its entire length and a plurality of elongated longitudinally extending compartments formed as a unit to form an extruded plastic partition assembly having flat panels separate from the golf bag case and arranged to define an open upper end of each separate compartment. Each compartment and its associated upper opening have an individually shaped periphery sized to admit the head of only one particular iron. The golf bag has a molded bottom plate that supports the heads of the irons and the grip ends of each wood and putter and attaches to a multi-layer golf bag case.

  • Patent number: 6082649
Abstract: A fishing reel with a frame having a first axis and forward and rear ends spaced axially relative to the first axis and an operating mechanism on the frame. The operating mechanism includes a line carrying spool, a rotor that is rotatable around the first axis relative to the frame, a bail assembly on the frame which is changeable between a cast position and a retrieve position, a rotor operator, and a drive train through which the rotor is rotated around the first axis in response to operation of the rotor operator. The operating mechanism further has a bail actuating system for moving the bail assembly from the retrieve position into the cast position.

  • Patent number: 5944184
Abstract: A golf bag for carrying a set of golf clubs including woods, irons and putter with the heads of the woods and putter positioned upward and the heads of the irons positioned downward. The golf bag includes a generally tubular body having a substantially uniform cross section along its entire length and a plurality of elongated longitudinally extending compartments formed of flat panels which define an open upper end of each compartment. Each compartment and its associated upper opening has an individually shaped periphery sized to admit the head of only one particular iron. The bag has a bottom plate that supports the heads of the irons and the grip ends of each wood and putter. The golf bag improves weight distribution of the bag contents, keeps individual irons from coming into contact with one another, stops them from rattling, organizes them so as to make them easy to locate while mitigating possible damage to the shafts of clubs made with graphite shafts.

  • Patent number: 5823336
Abstract: A golf bag for carrying a set of golf clubs including woods, irons and putter with the heads of the woods and putter positioned upward and the heads of the irons positioned downward. The golf bag includes a conventional tubular body capped at its upper end by a throat plate that includes a plurality of somewhat oval shaped first openings having individually shaped peripheries sized to admit the head of only one particular iron and a plurality of second openings to admit the shafts of the woods and putter. The bag has a bottom plate that supports guide members equal in number to the plurality of first throat openings, each guide member serving to individually retain the head of one iron of the club set resting on the bottom plate. The golf bag improves weight distribution of the bag contents, keeps individual irons from coming into contact with one another, stops them from rattling, organizes them so as to make them easy to locate and mitigates damage to shafts of clubs made with graphite shafts.

  • Patent number: 5154369
Abstract: An open-face spinning-type fishing reel with a rotor having a bail unit with line holding structure for engaging line from a spool with the bail unit in its open position to prevent line payout. In one form of the invention, the bail unit has a line receiving opening with a generally U-shaped line seat at the base thereof. As the rotor rotates, the U-shaped seat engages the line and guides the line around the spool as the rotor rotates. The invention contemplates a mechanism for blocking the line in the line receiving opening with the bail unit in its open position to prevent the line from freely unwinding from the spool. In one form of the invention, the line holding structure is a pin that is movable by at least one of pivoting and sliding motion into a blocking position. The invention, in addition to providing improvements to prior known spinning-type fishing reels, may be utilized to create such form of reels comprising the invention's own structured crank, trigger and related mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4921188
Abstract: Spinning-type fishing reels that do not require contact of a user's finger with the fishing line during manipulation of the reel's bail from a closed, line holding to an opened, line casting position comprise a line retention device linked into a trigger assembly. Such line retention device includes a pin that is moved via linked reel elements to a trigger and functions (a) to automatically engage the fishing line as the reel's bail is moved by the trigger assembly that includes the trigger toward an opened (line casting) position, (b) to retain the fishing line against unreeling while the trigger is held in the bail opened position, and (c) to automatically release the line to permit it to unreel from the reel's spool upon release of the trigger as the cast of the fishing line is preformed.
