  • Publication number: 20160234774
Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from mechanisms for access-based communications. For example, machine-type communication in long term evolution (LTE) communication systems may benefit from a mechanism for user equipment access-based machine-to-machine communication. A method can include a user equipment entering a transaction state. The method can also include suspending reception of paging messages during an idle period of the transaction state.

  • Publication number: 20150264703
Abstract: A network element of a first radio access technology system receives scheduling information for using resources in a second radio access technology system. Based on the scheduling information for using the resources in the second radio access technology system, the network element of the first radio access technology system is scheduled to use the resources in the second radio access technology system. The network element of the first radio access technology system transmits utilizing the resources in the second radio access technology system. Further aspects provide for scheduling based on building an interference profile map of the second radio access technology system created from the scheduling information. Other aspects detail additional attributes to determine the scheduling and/or go into or augment the interference profile map so as to determine the scheduling.

  • Patent number: 8031787
Abstract: In a method for channel estimation of an OFDM signal transmitted via a channel, an initial channel transfer function is calculated by channel estimation. A channel impulse response is calculated on the basis of the initial channel transfer function. Values of the channel impulse response or of a filtered channel impulse response are classified as noise or as a signal as a function of the level of the values of the channel impulse or of the level of the values of the filtered channel impulse response. A noise-reduced channel impulse response is calculated on the basis of the channel impulse response using the classification, and a noise-reduced channel transfer function is calculated on the basis of this noise-reduced channel impulse response.

  • Patent number: 7558343
Abstract: A tap-selectable Viterbi equalizer comprises means for determining at least one symbol from a previous determination assigned to a first state, means for determining a second state of the plurality of states and determining a surviving path metric by comparing path metrics originating from the determined symbol, means for determining the value of a previous symbol with respect to the symbol of the surviving state, and calculating means for generating a reduced trellis by calculating only path metrics for states in which the previous symbol has the determined value.

  • Patent number: 7092438
Abstract: A method of processing a sequence of digital symbols comprises the steps of processing the sequence of digital symbols and determining an uncertainty in the processing. If the uncertainty exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the method further comprises the steps of processing at least two sequences of digital symbols wherein at least one parameter is set differently in each sequence, and deciding upon a calculated error for each sequence which sequence is used to generate an output signal.

  • Patent number: 6751775
Abstract: A method of determining a trellis from a sequence of n symbols in a Viterbi detector. The method includes the steps of receiving a sequence of n symbols, defining partitioned sets according to a decision tree structure, and determining size of each set partitioning according to tap energy of the channel. The method also includes steps of determining a reduced set of connection paths between the current layer and a destination layer in the trellis by determining a value of a most likely oldest partitioned set in a current layer; and calculating branch metrics only for the current layers in the trellis in which the oldest partitioned set matches the determined value.

  • Patent number: 6603749
Abstract: A method for estimation of an impulse response (h) of a signal transmission channel (1) in a mobile communication system and a mobile station (15), especially a mobile phone, including a device for estimating the impulse response (h) of the signal transmission channel (1) in the mobile communication system are described. The invention allows a realization of mobile stations for use in a code division multiple access (CDMA) transmission mode and in a time division multiple access (TDMA) transmission mode with less implementation complexity. The estimation device includes exactly one combined channel estimator (45). The mobile station (15) receives signals (20) transmitted via the signal transmission channel (1) either in the TDMA transmission mode or in the CDMA transmission mode. The exactly one combined channel estimator (45) estimates the impulse response (h) of the signal transmission channel (1) according to the transmission mode.
