  • Patent number: 8739670
Abstract: Unattached elastic portions of an elasticised web are grasped and raised above a support surface for feeding the elasticised web. The raised portions are brought into contact with a knife blade that is positioned to protrude through the thickness of the raised elastic layer into free space so as to remain spaced from the support surface that is moving beneath the blade in a direction normal to the support surface. The raised elastic layer is held raised during trimming with the knife blade by an elevation element over which the elastic layer runs. A grasping device holds the unattached portion being cut in a taut state in the cross machine direction. The elastic layer thus spans across the elevation element and the grasping device. The knife blade extends through the thickness of the elastic layer along the spanned part of the elastic layer into free space.

  • Patent number: 6115463
Abstract: A common channel signaling system interconnects two home location registers. A data administrator responds to a network operator request by sending commands to a first (originating) home location register to have subscriber data extracted and formatted for communication over the common channel signaling system. Prior to communication, the first home location register verifies a common channel signaling system functionality level of a second (destination) home location register. If verified, the communication is sent, unformatted, and the included subscriber data stored. A data network and service management access layer further interconnect the two home location registers. The data administrator responds to a generic network operator migration request by generating home location register specific commands instructing the first home location register to extract subscriber data for transfer over the data network and through the service management access layer to the second home location register for storage.

  • Patent number: 6070066
Abstract: A communications system and a method for providing support for at least one cellular pay phone/debit phone are disclosed. The system has cellular controller for providing cellular communication services to the pay phones/debit phones so as to allow the pay phones/debit phones to communicate with other phones. The system calculates a charge rate for a call being made by a pay phone/debit phone and sends the charge rate to the pay phone/debit phone in a message containing a standard air interface message which is being used in a non-standard manner. The message contains information which allows the pay phone/debit phone to determine the charge rate.
