  • Patent number: 9649404
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injectable bone cement for filling bones with mechanical properties equivalent to those of vertebral spongy bone comprising 70 to 99 wt. % of an acrylic polymer combined with an inorganic type radiopaque compound and 1 to 30 wt. % of calibrated hydrophilic flexible solid particles, said calibrated hydrophilic flexible solid particles being chosen from gelatin, poly(glycerol sebacate) or a mixture thereof. A bone cement according to the invention is particularly intended for vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty or cementoplasty.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 5, 2009
Date of Patent: May 16, 2017
    Assignee: TEKNIMED
Inventors: Alain Leonard, Claudine Lavergne, Cyril Sender, Benoit Donazzon
  • Patent number: 8536243
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for preparing a polymerized bone cement, including two components reacting with each other when they are mixed to form a solid polymer material. The first component may include a biocompatible acrylic polymer and an initiator capable of initiating a polymerization reaction. The second component may include a monomer capable of dissolving an acrylic polymer, a polymerization activator and a polymerization inhibitor, system in which the second component also includes a biocompatible acrylic polymer dissolved in said monomer, identical or different from the polymer of the first component with an average molar mass greater than 1,000,000 g/mol and a residual initiator content of less than 0.1% to form a gel with determined viscosity. Another object of the invention is a composition designed to constitute the second component of as system used to prepare such cement.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6459010
Abstract: The invention involves a process for containment of industrial wastes, particularly nuclear wastes, in apatite ceramics. This process involves preparing a homogeneous mixture of powders which can form an apatite matrix, introducing the waste into this mixture, compacting it under a pressure of 100 to 500 MPa at room temperature, and subjecting it to hydrothermal processing at low temperature (100 to 500° C.) in the presence of water in a sealed chamber.

  • Patent number: 6338810
Abstract: A process for manufacturing an apatite ceramic, especially for biological use involves the preparation of a homogeneous mixture of powders to form a hydroxyapatite of formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, stoichiometric or non-stoichiometric, possibly containing other additives or flaws, compacting the mixture under a pressure of 100 to 500 Mpa at room temperature, and subjecting it to hydrothermal treatment at low temperature (100 to 500° C.) in the presence of water and in a sealed chamber.
