  • Patent number: 6297316
Abstract: The present invention relates to a latex containing two populations of particles of polymers based on vinyl chloride. Other subjects of the present invention are processes for producing this latex and its use in the manufacture of fluid plastisols which are stable on storage.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 27, 1997
Date of Patent: October 2, 2001
    Assignee: Elf Atochem S.A.
Inventors: Philippe Espiard, Richard Peres, Benoit Ernst
  • Patent number: 6245848
Abstract: The present invention relates to a latex containing two populations of particles of polymers based on vinyl chloride, respectively exhibiting mean diameters of between 0.9 and 1.3 &mgr;m and between 0.15 and 0.3 &mgr;m, in proportions such that the ratio by weight of the population with the lesser mean diameter to that with the greater mean diameter is between 0.4 and 0.7. Other subjects of the present invention are processes for the manufacture of the said latex and its application in fluid plastisols and foams of very good cellular quality.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 27, 1997
Date of Patent: June 12, 2001
    Assignee: Elf Atochem S.A.
Inventors: Philippe Espiard, Richard Peres, Benoit Ernst
  • Patent number: 6103790
Abstract: Cellulose microfibril reinforced polyers, corresponding latices, powders, films and rods, and uses thereof. Polymer/cellulose composites are prepared using individualized cellulose microfibrils with a high form factor, e.g., tunicin microfibrils, as the reinforcement. For this purpose, reinforced latices consisting of a polymer latex and a stable aqueous suspension of said microfibrils are used. Said polymers have a wide variety of uses, particularly in paints and nanocomposites.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 1996
Date of Patent: August 15, 2000
    Assignee: Elf Atochem S.A.
Inventors: Jean-Yves Cavaille, Henri Chanzy, Veronique Favier, Benoit Ernst
  • Patent number: 5998545
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mixture of polymers (A) having polyamide blocks and copolymers (B) comprising vinylaromatic units and unsaturated carboxylic anhydride units, the quantity of (B) being sufficient for the melt index (or melt flow index, MFI) of the mixture of (A) and (B) to be less than the melt index of (A) alone. It also relates to masterbatches of (A) and (B).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 1998
Date of Patent: December 7, 1999
    Assignee: Elf Atochem S.A.
Inventors: Denis Melot, Alain Bouilloux, Benoit Ernst
  • Patent number: 5872155
Abstract: The present invention relates to vinyl chloride copolymers, in the latex form, the particles of which are composed of a core, of an outer layer and optionally of an intermediate layer. It also relates to the process for the manufacture of this latex by seeded miscosuspension polymerization and to its applications in paints and plastisols.
    Type: Grant
