  • Publication number: 20080129738
Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for providing the optimized speed and realistic expressions in real time while rendering wrinkled skin during character animation. The wrinkled skin at each expression is rendered using a normal map and a bump map. Generalized wrinkled skin data and weight data are generated by calculating a difference of the normal and bump maps and other normal and bump maps without expressions. Then, the wrinkled skin data of a desirable character is generated using the generalized wrinkle skin data at each expression, and then the normal and bump maps expressing a final wrinkled skin are calculated using the weight at each expression in a current animation time t. Therefore, the wrinkled skin in animation is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20070117631
Abstract: An intelligent distributed server system and a method of operating the same are provided. Since processing areas of a game server can be changed in real time during a game service, slow response time or service failure due to load unbalancing between game servers can be removed and thus stability is improved. Since game components are divided into several servers, there are difficulties in developing the game. Thus, new distributed processing technique is developed and applied. Simple configuration, server performance improvement, and service stability of relatively difficult distributed game server can be achieved, and also one-step advanced game plan can be realized by applying distributed processing technique to form a seamless and massive game space.

  • Publication number: 20070109264
Abstract: There are provided a letter inputting system and method capable of effectively and rapidly inputting a letter using an analog joystick controller for an existing consol game. The letter inputting method includes the steps of: inscribing a character string by controlling an input pointer using an analog joystick controller; recognizing whether or not the inputted character string is a gesture at a letter/gesture recognition unit; and detecting the inputted character string as a resultant character string if the recognized characteristic string is not the gesture, and converting the inputted character string into a character string matched with the gesture so as to detect the converted character string as the resultant character string after searching the gesture list if the inputted character string is the gesture.
