  • Patent number: 8553163
Abstract: A display apparatus used for creating 3D images has a display panel and a phase-delaying layer disposed on the display panel. The phase-delaying layer has first and second light-changing patterns that are self-aligned to at least one of pixels and a black matrix of the display panel. The self-aligned structure is formed by selectively passing curing light (e.g., UV light) through the display panel to cure curable liquid crystal films while the films are respectively aligned by aligning layers having different alignments.

  • Publication number: 20130207948
Abstract: A transparent display apparatus includes a transparent image panel including a plurality of sub-pixels, a data driver to apply a data signal to the sub-pixels, a gate driver to apply a gate driving signal to the sub-pixels, a timing controller to control the data driver and the gate driver in response to a first image signal, and a window disposed on a surface of the transparent image panel and including a plurality of light sensors arranged thereon. Each of the light sensors senses an external incident light and applies a sensing signal corresponding to the sensed external incident light to the timing controller, and the timing controller applies a second image signal to the data driver on the basis of the sensing signal and the first image signal.

  • Publication number: 20120320173
Abstract: A display apparatus including a first insulating substrate, a plurality of pixels, a second insulating substrate, a color filter layer, and a pattern retarder. The first insulating substrate includes a plurality of pixel areas arranged in an array of rows and columns, which has a length in the row direction longer than a length in the column direction, and has a length in a row direction longer than a length in a column direction. The pixels are arranged in the pixel areas, respectively, to display a 2D image and a 3D image. Among the pixels, first to fourth pixels successively arranged in the column direction define a unit pixel that displays one color information, and the fourth pixel corresponds to the white color pixel.
